Obituary for Mr. Kytus Cates

Mr. Kytus Cates
The sun rose on the life of Mr. Kytus Leroy Cates on March 13, 1958 in Denver, Colorado when he was born to Kytus Leroy Cates and Juanita Parker. The third of seven children, he had three brothers, Willie, Maurice and Echols and three sisters, Cherry, Patrice and Anita. A happy child, Kytus was always confident and comfortable in his own skin. “He was one to hold his own and never backed down in the face of adversity.” Educated in the public school system, Kytus graduated from George Washington High School in 1976. Athletically gifted, he received awards playing varsity basketball. Kytus was employed with the Sealy Mattress Company.

He was known to be a smooth talker and a hard worker in his younger days. He enjoyed family, friends and watching basketball and football. His best friends were Arturo and Bert. They will always remember his love for music, his style and the love he had for others. His favorite expression was, “Can you dig it?” Kytus loved to see others happy. Reginald remarked, “He was a father figure to me and my own family. He saw my kids like the grandchildren he never had.” To know Kytus was to love him and he will be greatly missed.

The sun set on the life of Mr. Kytus Leroy Cates on May 19, 2017 when he passed into eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Willie and sisters, Patrice and Anita. Those left to cherish his memory include his brothers, Maurice Cates and Echols Cates, both of Denver, CO; sister, Cherry Evans of Wichita, KS; devoted nephew, Reginald Cates of Aurora, CO; and a host of nieces, nephews. cousins, other relatives and friends.

Rest in peace...Kytus
