Mrs. Denise Gray
The life story of Mrs. Denise Faith Gray began on October 31, 1952 in White Clouds, Kansas when she was born to Cecil and Virginia Wright. The fifth of seven children, Denise had five brothers, Carlton, Leonard, Terry, Stuart and Cecil and one sister, Carol Mae. Educated in the public school system, Denise graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City, class of 1971. She later continued her education at Westwood College in Denver in 2012.
On August 14, 1982, Denise was united in marriage with John Gray whom she met through her brother, Stuart’s band, “The Dynamic Invasion”. The couple were married in Kansas City, Missouri. He remembers, “She was always joking and she always had a smile for everyone.” To this union were born four children, Marcus, Jonathan, Shaunise and Damani. They knew they were loved. She told us “Don’t fight because one day you will need each other”.
In later years, her grandchildren, Milana, Marcus, Lynnae and Maya were a special joy in Denise’s life. They called her Grandma and she loved them dearly. Denise was very active and involved in her community. She held memberships in Denver Easter Seals, Women’s Cancer Survivors Organization and the Polio Foundation. By profession, she was a Medical Transcriptionist. She was employed with Craig Hospital for over 13 years. She was known for being always friendly and a funny person to be around.
In her free time, Denise enjoyed family, hanging out with her best friends,
lunches and blue moon. Her best friends, Elizabeth and Cindy loved her beautiful smile and her love for everyone. One of her favorite expressions was, “You can always come home to love.” Her favorite color was ruby red. Favorite recording artists were, Billie Holiday and Bonnie Raitt (“Let’s Give Them Something To Talk About”).
The warm smile and loving attitude of this beautiful lady will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to share a part of her life. To know Denise was to love her. This life story ends on January 13, 2018 when Mrs. Denise Faith Gray passed into eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Cecil Wright, Jr. and sister, Carol.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, John L. Gray of Denver, CO; sons, Marcus Gray of Los Angeles, CA, Jonathan (Christlyn) Gray of Aurora, CO and Damani Gray of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Shaunise (Marcus) Gray-Mullenax of New Orleans, LA; brothers, Carlton (Margaret) Wright of Kansas City, MO, Terry (Marianne) Wright of Mc-Donough, GA, Leonard (Mayra) Wright of Aurora, CO and Stuart (Serita) Wright of Grandview, MO; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
