Fitch,
I've been hearing footsteps in the dark, and yesterday my olive green coffee mug fell to the floor and broke out of nowhere. Shadows dash across my eyes all the time, noises from your room at night. Are you at peace Fitch?
Uncle O.C. Locke lead you in the sinners prayer and you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior before you died.
My best memory of you: the two of us sitting on the front porch together after I got invited to attend Flight Attendant training for Sky West in Salt Lake City, Utah. You were SO excited for me and so proud. We stayed on the porch all day until I memorized the entire "Inflight Briefing" which was a requirement prior to training. I said I really don't think they expect us to have this memorized Fitch. Then you said, "No you have it memorized just in case they do". Sure enough hopefuls were sent home first day of training for not being able to recite the briefing word for word. Not me though thanks to you!
Also, the time young lonely-Liya was playing on the playground monkey bars at Hallett and broke her arm. Here you came driving down Kearney Street to rescue little Liya in your blue two door Cougar.
Or when you taught me to play "I dropped my Dolly in the mud" on the piano.
I looked for your obituary today but couldn't find it so I thought I'd go online for it - you don't have one. Is it because the "family" didn't want to go into detail about your life's mishaps? Sure you were sent to prison for a crime you committed. But while in prison you became a Trustee, and was privileged to drive the guards pickup truck throughout the yard picking up and dropping off laundry. Also let it be said you never went back to prison ever again. We all makes mistakes.
I was asstranged from the family while you were dying and up to the point of your death and was not around.
However, I was able to see pictures of you being laid to rest with honor and the American flag draped across your casket.
I placed your Marine dog-tags next to the photograph of you on the mantel. I think about you everyday.
Just wanted to say thanks for watching over me but heaven is missing an angel.
I pray that your soul is at peace.
Love Liya

Fitch,
I hear your footsteps in the dark. Things fall over to the ground. Noises from your room, and shadows dart across my eyes sometimes. I think it's you as if you have no peace about your death. Uncle O.C. Locke led you through the sinners prayer and you accepted Christ before you died. So I'm confused but...
I know this is way too late but during the time you were dying and up to your funeral the family had annomosity toward me and would not let me be around. I was at the liquor store on Colorado Blvd buying a cold beer it was so hot that day and the Korean Mr Kim told me "your dad died". I didn't get to go to the burial but I saw some video of how you were honored, and laid to rest with the American flag dropped across your casket. I was wondering to myself why I never saw an obituary so I thought I would find one online. I didn't - I'm not sure why.
But, my best memory of you is when I got selected to go to Salt Lake City for Flight Attendant training for Sky West. You were so excited for me and proud. You and I sat on the porch together all day until I memorized the "Inflight Briefing" which was a requirement prior to training. I kept saying I'm sure they don't expect me to have this whole briefing memorized Fitch? And you said better you know it just in case they do! Many hopefuls were sent home the first day of training for not having that briefing memorized.
Also, I think back on how young lonely Aliya was at Hallett elementary playing and fell from the monkey bars and broke my arm with nobody around. Like an angel you just so happened to be driving down Kearney Street in your blue two door Cougar to save me.
Or how you taught me to play: I dropped my dolly in the mud.
Thank you for watching over me, but heaven is missing an angel.
P.s. I put your marine dog tags next to your photograph on the mantel. I think about you everyday.
Peace.
