Obituary of Tuesday Antoinette Goodloe
Please share a memory of Tuesday to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On July 20, 1964, at 4:53 a.m. at Pacoima Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Pacoima, CA, Tuesday was delivered into the loving arms of her parents Rev. David L. and Geneva L. Washington. Growing up as the first of five children born to this union, Tuesday was always surrounded by a loving family. She was lovingly called “my girl” by her grandfather, Frank Shelton, and “Tootie” by her Uncle Butch—often paired with her sister as “Tootie and Wenny.” Tuesday was educated at Montbello High in Denver, CO. She further studied early childhood development.
As a child, Tuesday is remembered by her mother Geneva as my child that “pushed the envelope”. She tells of a time when Tuesday was kicked off the school bus and wrote a note in big block letters saying that she could get back on the bus and signed her father’s name.
Her father portrays her as his daughter that could seemingly do anything. He believed that she just had an “uncanny knack” to easily grasp hold of things. He remembers when it was time to teach her to drive, she was a natural. He recalls, “I never gave any lessons or even had to explain how to drive”. She just started driving the first time I put her behind the wheel”. Self-assured and confident is how he describes her.
Tuesday committed her life to the Lord Jesus at an early age. Baptized and raised in the Church of God in Christ tradition (COGIC), she developed a loving relationship with God. Tuesday displayed compassion and a sincere love for others. Also, she processed a profound sense of right and wrong. It was a joy to watch her praise God when playing the tambourine! Her Christian legacy dates back to the early post-civil war era to her paternal grandmother, Octavene.
There were many highlights and successes in Tuesday’s life. One of her greatest delights and achievements was becoming a truck driver. Her love for truck driving was the result of a truck driving family. Both her parents and grandparents on her maternal side were truck drivers. She was right at home in swapping truck driver lore.
In her free time Tuesday enjoyed photography, music, dancing and jewelry making. She liked going into the mountains to take nature pictures. She also had a tremendous love of dogs!
Tuesday was known by family and friends as a joyful, spiritual, and loving soul. She radiated happiness, compassion, and resilience, with a deep and unwavering faith in God. Her strong moral compass, fearless optimism, and radiant smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was kind-hearted, fiercely protective, and formed lifelong bonds. With a pure spirit and unconditional love, she embodied empathy, creativity, courage, and strength. Her comforting mantra, “me and God’s got this,” became a source of hope and inspiration to those who stood by her side in her final months.
On April 4, 2025, during the early morning hour, God dispatched an angel and called Tuesday home. She has a new home in glory where the wicked have ceased their troubling and the weary are at rest and all the saints of the ages have gathered at His feet and are blessed. She is preceded in death by her brother David L. Washington, Jr. (not to be confused with David Jr. III). She leaves to cherish her memories her parents Rev. David L. and Geneva L. Washington of Jonesboro, GA, her siblings, Wendy (Lorne) Smittick of Denver, CO, Dorcas L. Washington of Hampton, GA, and David L. Washington, Jr. III (Bonita) of Jonesboro, GA, three daughters, Chantelle Bunting of Ellenwood, GA, Kimberly Esnault of Denver, CO, and Meg’n Washington of Colorado Springs, CO. She leaves 7 grandchildren, Faith, Harmoni, Malachi, Promise, Ezekiel, Kimbella, and Kimora; uncles, aunties and a host of cousins.
