Denice Michelle Edwards Obituary

Denice Michelle Edwards was the 3rd of 6 siblings born to her father, Eddie Everett Edwards, and her mother, Ulamay LaVerne Scott.

Denice was a beautiful baby girl with strikingly light hazel eyes. She developed well beyond her years; she mastered the gift of communication. She bombarded her parents, grandparents, uncles, and aunts with nonstop questions. She learned to read before she attended elementary school, and became a lover of reading and an avid book collector as she grew older.

She loved learning about every subject under the sun, from politics to Holistic healing from various herbs, plants, vegetables, and fruits, and was always willing to share her knowledge with whoever was interested.

Her mother's parents, Vernie and Mildred Scott, played a special role in her, and her 5 siblings, along with her mother's brothers, little George Milton and Big George Scott. They taught by example, integrity, and love.

Denice and her siblings listened to their parents' and grandparents’ teachings and excelled in their life journeys. After Denice graduated from college, she pursued her dream of becoming a public servant and chose a life in the political arena. She became an assistant to Mayor Wellington Webb for 12 years, and through her political career, she became a powerful lobbyist with a vision and a voice for the State of Denver, Colorado. She worked nonstop when she believed in a cause worth fighting for! The work she did and the lives she touched are too numerous to mention, but the legacy she leaves behind and lives she touched will keep her unselfish work alive.

Those who preceded her in death are her paternal grandparents, Vernie Scott and Mildred Scott; maternal grandparents, Virginia Lee Peterson; parents, Eddie Everett Edwards and Ulamay Laverne Ivory; uncles, Big & Little George Scott, wife, Barbra Scott; uncle, Milton Scott; aunt, Virginia Lee Rawlins; older sister's, Vernette Louise Edwards of San Francisco, California and LaVenia Ann Jackson of Denver, Colorado.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her brother, Vernone Everett Edwards of Denver, Colorado; sisters, Kim Antoinette Edwards of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Sharelle Evon Pankey of Virginia; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family of Denice Michelle Edwards would like to thank everyone who embraced her while she was on this journey.
