Obituary of Latonia Frankie Hicks
Please share a memory of Latonia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Latonia "Frankie" Ronnette Hicks on July 17, 1965 in Denver, Colorado when she was born to Jamie Augman and Delores Maxine Churchill. The oldest of five children, she had one brother, Troy and three sisters, Yolanda (her twin), Anthinette and Therell. An extremely enterprising child, at the age of nine, she worked at Safeway. For fun, she enjoyed pop locking, dancing and singing. She sang Marvin Gaye's song, "Let's Get It On" and was featured on the front page of the newspaper. She loved to dance and would learn new dance moves from her younger sister before going out. Educated in the public school system, "Frankie" (as she was affectionately called) graduated from George Washington High School in Denver. She continued her education at Mansfield Community College where she studied Accounting and Notary. In 1984, Frankie was united in marriage with Saul Arrington. A memorable memory of the marriage was a trip to Florida where she took pictures with alligators. To this union were born three children, Shaquana, Saul, Jr. and Latisha. She also became the stepmother of Shaun. On November 18, 1994, Frankie was united in marriage with Michael Hicks. Every year of their marriage, Frankie and Michael went to Las Vegas. They bought a home and always had to be the first to do anything. With this union, Frankie became the stepmother of Jeremy. The couple provided care for several foster children and eventually adopted Datura. One of the children's favorite childhood memories was a birthday party where Frankie put fake money in the pinata. "The adults were running over the kids to get the money." Her grand-children remember her buying them all the "cool toys", taking them to the mountains to eat crablegs and always wanting them to spend their weekends with her. A woman of deep faith in God, she was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church for over twenty years and was also a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Christ Jesus. Professionally, Frankie was a Bail Bondsman first and then a foster parent. She was employed with Waste Management for four years in the position of Scalehouse Supervisor. She had previously been employed with Consumer Em-powerment Foster Care Agency. She was awarded #1 for top female in bail bonding. Also she was always willing to help in any way she could. In her free time, Frankie enjoyed family, friends, bowling, family gatherings, spoiling her grandchildren and playing slot machines. Her best friend was Stephanie Sherell Maxey. She loved her for caring, giving and the loyalty she always gave her. She was known and loved by many for being compassionate, strong, giving, loving, honest, highly intelligent, highly favored and a gift from God who was a blessing to so many. "She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She had a strength in her that everyone admired. From a very young age, she was a go getter to improve herself. She had an unbreakable bond with her twin sister. She also had a very close bond with her aunt, Geneva whom she loved dearly. She was the best wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. To know her was to love her. Everyone that knew her was blessed to know her. The sun set on the life of Mrs. Latonia "Frankie" Ronnette Hicks on October 7, 2016 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her father, Jamie Augman; brother, Emmett Bland; aunt, Renne Churchill; nephew, Darius Churchill; cousin, Debora Jordan and best friend, Sherell Maxey. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Michael L. Hicks of Aurora, CO; sons, Saul (Starr) Arrington of Commerce City, CO and Jeremy Torres of Arlington, TX; daughters, Latisha (Gary) Vaughns of Denver, CO, Shaquana (Donte) Swain and Datura Else, both
