Obituary of Thomas Harrington
Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mr. Thomas Gene Harrington on July 30, 1957 in Fulton, Kentucky when he was born to J.B. "Jack" Harrington and Mary Jackson. Thomas was one of nine children born to this family. He had five brothers, Leon, Bill, Tex, Milton and Bobby Rae and three sisters, Sarah, Jo Ellen and Brenda. On May 18, 1989, Thomas was united in marriage with Sarah Burnell. To this union was born one child, Jessica. The marriage was later dissolved. In 1984, Thomas was united in marriage with Cinda Burnett. With this union, he became the stepfather of one child, Rachel. He was a loving and devoted father/stepfather. Rachel remembers, "Tom was my step father. He was there just like a parent would be for any child. He cared for us and did all of the things with us that families do. We have many fond memories of Tom and our family playing cards, visiting parks, fishing and enjoying the mountains. Just having a good time and enjoying each other's company. When I was a little girl we had a fun relationship. He would tickle me until I gave in and we teased each other relentlessly with silly nicknames we'd given each other and giggled and laughed for hours on end." He was blessed with one grandchild, Fiona. A man of faith, Thomas was a member of Mosaic Church in Englewood. His sister, Sarah remarked, "We believe this is the church that helped Tom to get back on his feet shortly before he started working for ACE again. Getting his job back at ACE really turned Tom's life around and I thank you for that, please let Gary and all know how much it meant to Tom and us." Tom was employed with Ace Towing and Express for over 20 years, first as a tow truck driver and later as a security guard. His co-workers remember, "We could always count on Tom. He was loyal and caring and was nicknamed "Cowboy" and "Sylvester" out of love." Tom loved the towing business and loved to work. He took pride in his job. In his free time, he enjoyed family, friends (Carl, George and Deanna and many others), building model cards, Nascar, Broncos and crossword puzzles. He did love his music. He would ride around in his car with the music blaring and everyone singing along at the top of their lungs. Favorite songs were "Hallelujah" and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". Tom loved cars and always took great pride in his vehicles. Tom was an emotional man who often wore his heart on his sleeve. Anybody who knew Tom knew this. He was a gentle soul who loved his family and everybody he made friends with dearly. His time was too short, he was taken too soon and he will be deeply missed. The sun set on the life of Mr. Thomas Gene Harrington on December 20, 2016 when the Lord called him home to sing with the angels. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving family members, other relatives and friends.
Rest in peace...Thomas
