Obituary of Aquila McKay Jones-Sor

The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Aquila McKay Jones-Sor on July 14, 1979 in Omaha, Nebraska when she was born to Clifford and April Jones. The third of five children, she had three brothers, CJ, DaJuan and Calvin and one sister, Mikki. As a child, she loved playing dress-up in her grandmother's clothes. She enjoyed playing with her dolls and playing outside. Aquila always had to have a purse on her shoulder and would take over and liked being the boss of everybody outside. Aquila was united in marriage with Patrick Sor in Denver, Colorado. She was the loving and devoted mother of four beautiful daughters, Cierra, Sharnea, Dashay and Desiree. A woman of faith, Aquila was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Omaha and Redeeming Love Fellowship in Denver. "She received Christ at an early age and loved Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, singing in the choir and playing the tambourine." Singing, dancing and hanging out with her friends were some of the things Aquila most enjoyed in addition to spending quality time with her family. "She loved her family far and near and wanted them to know." She will be remembered by her friends for her encouraging words to others and her willingness to help all she knew. She lived life to the fullest. "She earned the nickname "Messy Betsy" from her Aunt Sybil that loved her so because you always knew when she was around. You could tell by the mess and the trail of things, food, clothes, toys, etc that she left around. Her favorite color was blue, she loved the movie "The Color Purple" and she most enjoyed R&B and gospel music. Her love, joy in life, caring nature and concern for others will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. To know Aquila was to love her. The sun set on the life of Mrs. Aquila McKay Jones-Sor on March 19, 2017 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Patrick Sor of Aurora, CO; daughters, Cierra Waller of Lincoln, NE, Sharnea Waller of Sacramento, CA, Dashay Waller of Oakland, CA and Desiree Waller of Denver, CO; parents, Clifford and April Jones, Jr. of Aurora, CO; brothers, Calvin Jones of Omaha, NE, Clifford (Tangerneeka) Jones, III of Las Vegas, NV and DaJuan Jones of Aurora, CO; sister, Beatrice "Mikki" (Jeff) Chapman of Omaha, NE; special friend, Michael Ivery of Denver, CO; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
