Obituary of Patricia Ann Lomax-Howze
Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Patricia Ann Lomax-Howze on September 27, 1948 in Springfield, Illinois when she was born to John G. and Blanche E. Lomax. The youngest of three children, Patricia had two sisters, Carol and Veronica. A happy and loving child, she was always giving, loyal, nurturing, kind and supportive to all her family and friends. She was also creative and artistic. Educated in the public school system, Patricia earned her diploma at Feitshans, then was a Business Major at Barnes Business College.
On June 19, 1999, Patricia formally united in marriage with Vincent Lee Howze whom she met in Springfield in 1967. They had a blended family of kids, grandkids and great grandkids. The couple was very family oriented. Davia remembers being told, "You have to have faith. Everything is going to be alright." Ashia recalls Patricia's daily phone calls about life, sports and the soaps. "Those conversations connected me to her in ways I'm just now realizing." Thaddeus remembers being made to feel "Like you're the king". India remembers the shopping trips. "No matter what we were shopping for, we always had a good time. She made everything fun. She had the most amazing outlook on life. You couldn't help but smile in her presence." Her grandchildren, Naomi, Tehran, Devin, Khole, Ty, Ocean and Tamar loved her dearly as she did them.
A woman of faith, she was a member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. She had previously belonged to Renaissance Baptist Church in Minnesota. A woman of many talents, Patricia was employed with Direct TV, Lady Ors Hosiery and Fashion Bar. She was known for excellence, being kind and a team player. In her free time, she enjoyed family, friends, sports, sewing and shopping. God sisters, Freda, Maryann and Evelyn and god brother, Wardell and dear friend, Jeanette Rowden loved to listen to her laugh. Her favorite expressions were, "Go Broncos, Duh, Whatever, Worsum, Baby, Touchdown and Bad Butt." Her love, sense of humor and joy in life will be deeply missed. "She brought us all together as a family. She was love and home." To know this beautiful lady was to love her.
The sun set on the life of Mrs. Patricia Ann Lomax-Howze on May 14, 2017 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, Carol. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Thaddeus Lomax of Aurora, CO; daughters, Davia (Alton) Smith, Ashia (Daniel) West, both of Aurora, CO and India Lomax of Centennial, CO; sister, Veronica (Tommy) Burnette of Springfield, IL; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
