Obituary of Darlene Harris
Please share a memory of Darlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Ms. Darlene Yvette Harris on October 24, 1965 in Denver, Colorado when she was born to George T. and Vivian E. Harris. The youngest of six children, she had two brothers, George and Michael and three sisters, Vickie, Deborah and Patricia. A loving child, Darlene always wanted to be like her mama. She loved working in the kitchen. Her sister remembers the first time Darlene went swimming. "She just dove right in...fearless." Educated in the public school system, Darlene attended John F. Kennedy High School in Denver, CO. She earned her GED.
Darlene was the loving and devoted mother of four children; Erik Mychal through a relationship with Steven A. Ross; Dominique Daishawn, Deshawn Maurice and Myah Dawn through a relationship with Kevin M. Anderson. The children remember that she said "She couldn't wait till "them kids" got on the school bus in the morning". She even had a happy dance for it. Erik remembers, "My mom always tried to help everyone as much as possible, always giving whether you needed a place to stay or just a place to eat." In later years, her grandchildren, Erika Mychelle and Erik Mychal, Jr. were a special source of joy and pride in her life. They remember going to "Granny's" house every holiday, the chili dogs she would cook at Halloween and dancing all over the living room. They loved her dearly as she did them.
By profession a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), Darlene was employed with Rose Terrace Medical. She was known for hard work, dedication, dependability and being a real pleasure to work with. In her free time, Darlene enjoyed family, friends, eating out with her friends while kids were in school, cooking and just hanging out with her friends. Her best friends were Lisa Scott, Rachel McKinnis and Misty Rabb. They enjoyed all the good times around the stove cooking, partying and having fun. "She was always the life of the party and kept us laughing." Her love, caring for others, laughter and joy in life will be deeply missed by all who were
fortunate enough to share a part of her life. To know Darlene was to love her.
