Please share a memory of Lester to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mr. Lester Jr Strong on March18, 1952 in Shreveport, Louisiana when he was born the only child of Willie Ann Cooper. Educated in the public school Lester attended Manual High School in Denver, Colorado through the 10th grade. In 1975 Lester, was united in marriage with Pernester Womely in Denver. To this union were born six children, Lawander, Pernester, Lester, Damion, Jennifer and Earnest. The couple worked hard to take care of and raise their family. He was a loving father. In later years, his grandchildren, Xavian, Trenia, Ta'Ceisha, Jania, Jacob, Javon, Jayla, Marie, Damion, Jr., Deshawn, Aaliyah, Meriska, Precious and Savannah were an added source of joy and pride in his life. They have fond memories of "Grandpa" at their graduations, family gatherings, his birthdays, him trying to blow up a balloon, going to visit him and going to visit his wife. He often told them to always mind Momma and sang "Waiting for my child to come home" to them. A man of faith, Lester was a long time member of Agape Christian Church. Lester was employed with Burger King in the position of cook/crew member. His co-workers remember him as the "best cook". "He always had it fresh and hot." He was a hard worker. In his free time, Lester enjoyed playing dominoes and listening to Motown. His best friend, Kenny Barnes will always remember Lester frying a family pack of chicken and not sharing! Lester was kind, sweet and caring. His love and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have shared a part of this wonderful man's life. To know Lester was to love him. The sun set on the life of Mr. Lester Jr Strong on June 6, 2017 when the Lord called him home to eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his mother and wife. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Terry Womely of Denver, CO, Lester (Jamie) Strong, Jr. of Australia, Damion (Vicky) Strong of Hudson, CO and Earnest Strong of Cheyenne, WY; daughters, Pernester Strong, Lawander Strong and Jennifer Strong, all of Denver, CO; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
