Obituary of Robert Lash Brewer
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mr. Robert Lash Brewer on April 17, 1939 in Shreveport, Louisiana when he was born to Beebe Brewer and Ivory Williams Brewer. The seventh of sixteen children, Robert had eight brothers, J.T., Howard, Beebe, Jr., Robert, Wilburn, Charles, Melvin and James and six sisters, Ada Doll, Jesse, Azzie, Betty, Ernestine, Gloria and Diane. As a child, he was a good big brother, nice and all his siblings got along with one another. "He was competitive and enjoyed playing sports. He always liked cars." Educated in the public school system, Robert graduated from Charlotte A. Mitchell High School in Bossier City, LA. He continued his education, attending Grambling College in Rustin, LA.
On October 8, 1961, Robert was united in holy matrimony with his school sweetheart, Shirley Mae Baker in Denver, Colorado. The couple exchanged their vows in the home of family, Irene and Tom Robinson. To this union were born three handsome sons, Patrick, Reginald and Randy. He was a loving husband and father. In later years, his grandchildren, Kellen, Nathan and Domenik and great grandchild, Nya Amara-Candace were a special source of joy in Robert's life. The grandchildren called him "Grandpops" and Nya called him "Great Grandpapa Robert." "Papa always smiled when she came to visit." A man of faith, Robert was a member of Scott United Methodist Church for over 54 years. He served the Lord and his church on the Trustee Board. He was employed with General Motors Parts Division in the postilion of a parts picker for thirty-four years until his retirement. He was known for hard work and dependability. In his free time, he enjoyed sharing quality time with family and friends, working on and building race cars. His love, kindness and beautiful smile will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have shared a part of Robert's life. To know him was to love him.
The sun set on the life of Mr. Robert Lash Brewer on June 24, 2017 when the Lord called him home to eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents and several siblings. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Patrick (Beatrice) Brewer, Domenik Brewer, both of Denver, CO, Kellen Brewer of Castle Rock, CO and Nathan Brewer of Ft. Collins, CO; brothers, Wilburn Brewer of Denver, CO, James (Laversia) Brewer of Shreveport, LA and Melvin Brewer of Haughton, LA; sisters, Gloria (Rayford) Jones of Belton, TX, Betty (James) Brown and Diane (Henry) Cooper, both of Denver, CO three grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
