Obituary of Lionel James Bailey
Please share a memory of Lionel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mr. Lionel James "So New York" Bailey on January 30, 1981 in Bronx, New York when he was born to Donnell Bailey and Valerie Powells Bailey. The youngest of four children, Lionel had one brother, Elias and two sisters, Shanee and Latesha. An extremely active child, Lionel managed to break a bone every summer. He was athletic and always was very fast. At the age of 12, he already had a six pack from working out and playing football with the older boys. They nicknamed him "Rock Head" because he hit so hard. Educated in the New York School System, he attended Lehman High School and quickly established himself as an unstoppable force before being recruited by the prestigious and highly competitive Mount Saint Micheal Academy in Wakefield, NY to play football. There, his overall speed and defensive playing style would land him in the pages of the Daily News. Lionel went on to attend Nausua Community College before making his way to Denver, Colorado in 2002.
On April 7, 2002, Lionel was united in marriage with Natisha Halfacre whom he met at a club in Denver. From their first meeting, the couple was always together. They stayed up late at night talking and laughing. Natisha would sing to him. They truly just enjoyed each other. Lionel was the loving and devoted father of three children, Jahmir, Jordan and Elegance. Once in Denver Lionel pursued his dreams of business ownership by establishing SLICK TALKERS MIDWEST, a lifestyle brand with friend Antoine 'Flip' Rogers. His love for music, life and the pursuit of happiness motivated him everyday to dream bigger and he did.
Handsome with an infectious smile, Lionel loved people. He loved life and he loved his children most of all. He loved making music, having a good time and riding his motorcycle. His favorite color was red. He liked lilies and roses and most enjoyed R&B and Rap Music. Family first was always the way he lived his life. He was a loving and joyful person who always made sure everyone had a good time. He was a generous man with a good heart. To know him was to love him and he will be deeply missed.
To his original Slick Talker Family: Lionel loved the music and memories you all created together He had visions for his business, his life and brand that all began with you. NEVER FORGET SLICKTALKER FOR LIFE
