Obituary of James Curry
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mr. James Curry, Jr. on February 9, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois when he was born to Rev. James E. Curry and Cynthia Mae (Heard) Curry. James had one brother, Thomas and one sister, Loretta. Educated in the public school system, James graduated from Midland High School in 1959. After moving to Denver, he attended the National Electronics Institute and graduated with a certificate in Electronics in 1972. James proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 4 years, and was honorably discharged in 1963.
He spent the majority of his service in France and California, during Peace Time. In 1969, James was united in holy matrimony with Margaret "Peggy" Antonelli. The couple moved to Denver, Colorado from Illinois. To this union were born three children, James, Brandon and Michelle. James was a loving and devoted father and husband. In later years, his grandchildren, Sandra, James, Jamon, Brandon, Jr., Breawnna, Braelah, Milana, Ariyana and Giano were a special source of joy and pride in his life.
A man of faith, James was a member of Zion Baptist Church since he first moved to Denver in 1969. He was employed at Central Motive Power as a Parts Manager and Salesman and retired after 30 years of service. Most recently, he worked at Buckley Air Force Base in the Commissary and retired in 2011. Living life to the fullest was the epitome of James Curry, Jr. He loved music and was in two singing groups in his 20's, "El Quovon's" and the "Upsetters". He loved jazz music, dancing, concerts, and social events.
His wardrobe was always debonair. He was a sports enthusiast, enjoyed playing chess, fishing and was an avid gardener. James loved his family and adored spending time with his mother and Sunday mornings taking her to church. He was always smiling and happy. We will never forget his smile. He will be missed by all who knew him and he lives on through all of us.
The sun set on the life of Mr. James Curry, Jr. on August 2, 2017 when he went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his father, Rev. James E. Curry and uncle, Willie Jones. Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife, Margaret "Peggy" Antonelli Curry; sons, Rev. James J. (Markita) Curry and Brandon D. Curry; daughter, Michelle L (James) Bell; mother, Cynthia M. Curry; brother, Rev, Thomas (Justyne) Curry; sister, Loretta (Jerry) Martin; grandchildren: Sandra Ja'Nae, James Marcus and Jamon William Lewis-Curry, Brandon, Jr, Breawnna Essense Braelah and Celeste Curry, Milana Joyce, Ariyana Yvette and Giano James Bell; also, Kimberly Bell, mother to Brandon, Breawnna, and Braelah, all of Denver, CO; and a host of nieces, nephews, (who each had a special bond with him), cousins, other relatives and a vast array of friends and associates.
