Obituary of Peggy Ann Hoard
Please share a memory of Peggy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Peggy Ann Hoard on May 22, 1955 in Omaha, Nebraska when she was born to Sylvester and Maxine Jones- Williams. The second of seven children, she had two brothers, Sylvester and Rodney and four sisters, Nancy, Sylvia, Ashante "Carol Gay" and Gladys Beth. A happy child, Peggy spent much of her time playing jacks, dressing up, dancing and playing bid whiz. She enjoyed dressing her sisters up and helping them with their makeup. Educated in the public school system, she attended East High School in Denver and continued at Community College of Denver.
On July 7, 1983 Peggy was united in marriage with the love of her life, Jerome Hoard whom she met at the bus stop. The couple exchanged their vows at the City and County Building in Denver. "They enjoyed their many vacationing experiences, concerts, cruising and listening to music". To this union were born two precious children, Kamanti and Brandi. A devoted wife and loving mother, the children remember listening to music with her, being supportive, attending all their activities and being involved with working with children at the Salvation Army Foundation. In later years, her grandchild, Javae and her great grandchild, Cayden were a special source of joy in her life. Javae remembers being able to talk with "Grandma" and spending time with her. Cayden remembers "She always gave me Skittles and made me feel loved".
A woman of faith Peggy was a member of the Salvation Army Community Church at Red Shield where she was the After School Coordinator and cooked for them. She was employed with IBM in Boulder in the position of an Electro Mechanical Assembler. She was known for dedication, hard work and loving to play Bid Whiz. In her free time, Peggy enjoyed family, friends, volunteering at Red Shield and cooking for the kids. Everyone remembers her giving of her time and her wit! "She was a classy lady who loved to be stylish, wearing high heels, and smelling good with her perfume. She was very smart, always challenging everyone to be their best. She was supportive, always a shoulder to lean on, giving the best advice with a heart of gold. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed." To know Peggy was to love her.
