Obituary of Elza Estes
Please share a memory of Elza to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Elza Faye Estes on Monday, January 16, 1933 when she was born to proud parents, Elza and Nettie Brown in Kemp, Texas. She had one sister, Patricia. Educated in the public school system, she attended and graduated from Carver High School in Amarillo, Texas. She met and married Hollis "Jack" Estes in 1952. To this union five precious children were born, Sharon, Rita, Leta, Carolyn and Gregory. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife. She and her family moved to Denver, Colorado in 1963. In later years, her grandchildren, Marcus, Timothy, Jeremy, LaCoria, Daniel, Jackie, Tony, Jordan and Yushia were a special source of joy and pride in her life. She loved them dearly as they did her. Elza was a member of the Fleur de Leis Social Club for over forty-three years. She served in the office of communications. By profession a homemaker, Elza devoted her life as a homecare giver in private homes for over 18 years. She was employed with the Lifecare Center.
In her free time, Elza enjoyed quality time with family and friends,"porch time" and telephone time. Her best friends were Ruth Johnson, Mary Jackson and Carol Marshall. They loved her straightforward conversations and thoughtfulness. Elza's favorite color was purple and she most enjoyed listening to gospel music. One of her favorite expressions was, "Truth hurts for a minute, but a lie hurts forever." She also like to say, "A woman who tells her age will tell anything." Her love, kindness, thoughtfulness, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have shared a part of this lovely lady's life. To know Elza was to love her. The sun set on the life of Mrs. Elza Faye Estes on September 19, 2017 when she passed from this life into eternal rest.
