Obituary of Mst. Sgt. Fred Turner

Fred "Billy" Turner was born on June 19th in Chickamauga, Georgia to Fred Turner and Lavonia Suttles. He was raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In 1951, he joined the US ARMY and served as a medic. He received numerous awards and certificates for his courage and dedication while serving. A veteran of the Vietnam War and the Korean War, he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant and was awarded the honorary Purple Heart and the Bronze Award. He was retired with full honors after serving for more than 30 years. Fred, after leaving the Army, started working at the US Post Office. He remained a loyal postal worker until he retired after 28 years of service. Fred was an outgoing man who liked to gamble and was an avid poker player. Two of his passions were cooking and sports (boxing was his favorite). His favorite team was the Seattle Seahawks. Fred attended and was a member of The Potter's House of Denver for many years. He loved the Lord and was a good and faithful servant. Fred lived a life devoted to God, his family and his country. Master Sergeant Fred Turner (ret.), 83, passed away peacefully at St. Paul Health Center in Denver, Colorado on October 19, 2017. Fred is survived by his loving wife, Deborah; his daughter, Tina; sons, Timothy, Terrance, and Tyrone (Marquisha); stepdaughters Kathy, Kim and Karen; grandchildren Tyson (LaToya), Brittany, Thelonious, Tynasia, Tameya, and four great-grandchildren; siblings, Mildred Hicks, Thelma Holloway, Frizzell Turner and Joyce Carter; dearest friends, Ervin and Evelma Judkins and other precious family and friends. He is proceeded in death by his former wife and mother of his children Albertine; and his parents Fred Turner and Lavonia Suttles.
