It is never easy when you lose a loved one, to the Hawthorne family my thoughts and prayers go out to you all. To the mother of Kareem it is never easy when you lose your baby, and to Kareem's twin sister my heart is with you. I worked with Kareem here at RTD when I first started he took my under his wing as a big brother. My prayers are with you all.

At a time like this, words are so inadequate ,but may this expression of sympathy somehow help to comfort you and your love one's. Kareem was a kind , straightforward, joking person and it is an honor to have known him.

From the bottom of my heart I would like to thank Kareem’s family for sharing such a good person. I worked with Kareem for a good part of five years. When he first started at Pepsi, he was the lab technician for the bottle lines. I worked closely with him during that time and we shared many memories together that turned the new acquaintances into friends. We would joke on the radio because whenever he spoke he sounded like the famous artist who sang the song Panda. The song’s main verse said Panda over and over and I use to try to get Kareem to say that part on the radio, which he finally did! We eventually grew together and developed an unusual greeting when we saw each other. We would stand there, stare at each other as if we hadn’t seen that face in decades (when in fact we just saw each other the day prior), wipe our eyes and clean our safety glasses in disbelief of who we saw in front of us, and then say, “Awe it IS YOUUU!”, and the. Shake hands and hug. People thought sometimes thought we were distant friends meeting up again. Others just laughed and shook there heads as they had probably seen this at least a hundred times. I will really miss you Kareem. You were the life of any room I was in. You brought my spirits up everyday at work. And when I arrive to heaven, I will make sure to bring two pairs of safety glasses so we can share this handshake once more. To the family of my brother Kareem, if you need anything at all, anything, please reach out to me at any time. I’m here for you just as Kareem was here for me. Just know that God now shares the best piece of our lives with us. He now has the one and only funny, charismatic, wonderful man we all know and love. I can’t wait to reunite with you my friend. Thank you all for sharing this time with me.
God Bless,
Phillip Cooper
