Deacon Burns was a tremendous help to our church as a deacon and brother. I saw something in him that convinced me he would make a good deacon and he did not disappoint. He attended all of the deacon training course and was ordained a deacon at New Nation Church. Deacon Burns was especially involved in our food pantry ministry and could be counted on to help unload the boxes and food. He was always on point. He also read the Scriptures at the opening of Sunday worship service and spoke on occasion. He will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with his family.

My memories of Ricky go back to our childhood when we would hang out just about everyday.Ricky was a friendly person who was always willing to share whatever he had with the rest of us kids. I'm still in disbelief that you are gone and up in heaven. I will miss our talks and visits. You were always so compassionate-- caring after others, making sure they were okay.
I remember the time you, me and Davey went to Tucson and you wanted to do all the driving. On the way back, it stormed like crazy. I was sitting in the back terrified by how bad the storm was. You were so calm and brought us home.
I have so many more memories and thoughts of you so this is just one of many. You will be missed and never forgotten.

To Richard Burnes, Sr, (Uncle Richard) Latonia and family.
Rick or Ricky as we all call him for most of his life was a kind, loving, caring and sweet person, nephew and cousin. We remember him as always smiling like his picture, optimistic and brighting up the room, when he entered and shared his love of God and family.
When we saw Rick/Ricky, we saw that love that emanates from God, and was imparted to His earthly father Richard Burnes Sr, as Head of their household, who then poured it out and shared it with Aunt Nancy, Latonia and Rick/Ricky, so we could be blessed to feel a portion of that love every time we saw, visited, talked to, text, video chatted, or met up Rick/Ricky at Burnes Family related functions and events.
Rick/Ricky will be surely missed, but he will never be forgotten. We were blessed to have him with us for a time. Thank God for the memories and for sharing him with us for a time. To those of us who are still here, we leave these three scriptures which Rick/Ricky and Deacon Burnes showed to us through his love, Christian walk and life.
"Whatever may be your task, work heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men." COL 3:23 AMP.
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16.NKJV
"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke, upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 12-28-30 NKJV.
We pray that God will keep you all in His loving embrace, as you lean on Him to carry you through in Jesus Christ's name. Amen. We love you and will continue to lift you up in prayer. We love you, Lynn Edwards , Nadean Burnes, and Chris and Jacque Shivers.

Ricky my handsome little cousin I miss you so much. This pass Monday morning I was thinking about how I had not heard from you since Easter Sunday. I finally got around to text you early that evening. One hour later I found out you were gone. I will always remember your beautiful smile and our long phone conversations. I’m sorry that I messed up your game with the ladies when I made you go with me to a Ashford & Simpson concert when I was 6 months pregnant.

You were my brother from another mother we grew up together and you were the person who brought me out of my shell and taught how to not worry what people thought of me, you taught me so much through our 50 years of friendship through our sports years our and party years,we were side by side.
I still can not grasp that I cant call you a and share life experiences together, you were the best man at my wedding in Puerto Rico
We experienced life together and though you were a Cowboys fan I still loved you man, you made me a better person and I will miss talking to you and bouncing things off you.
You were the brother I never had and through the years as we took wives and I had children we were always there for each other and I will always have you in my heart and will miss you.

Rick you will forever be embedded in my heart, for all the times we shared for 12 long years, I will treasure forever. You were a good, good man. My Dad and I want to thank you all for the kind words and prayers for my brother’s passing. My brother Rick died in his sleep on April 27, 2020. The primary reason Rick died was of a pulmonary embolism which were blood clots in his lungs.
He died in his sleep and with a kiss from God on his forehead, God then took my brother’s hand and guided him to his own personal mansion in Heaven. He was 56 which is the same age my mother died at. They also both died in the month of April. I will cheer on the Dallas Cowboy team in my Denver Broncos jersey because you lost your way and Even though I tried to tell you the errors of your ways, you would not listen. ❤️
Rick had no idea blood clots were forming in his lungs . He was my best friend and he will be missed greatly. Rick was always searching for the love of his life but in the last last few years he found the love he was looking for in God. Rest In Peace in Heaven, my love, and thank you for showing me just how many people love me too!!
Much love to all of you and your families. Keep them close. I may not have my brother with me now but I will have all of my love ones with me again, to help me build my own castle in the sky. I will miss you Deacon Burnes, you will always be my rock, my love and my baby brother. A gift from God!! God will take care of my brother and we will all take care of each other here until our Father calls us all home.
