The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. – Psalm 34:18
To the children: Hold on to the great memories, remember times of laughter, reflect on lessons taught, and live a worthy life that would make you father proud. To my Big Cousin, Alonzo, you are missed, we love you. Peace be with you always, Tammy

Alonzo, my beloved cousin we have shared great experiences together. You touched many people far and wide. One story I would like to share is upon returning from my wedding, my husband and I had an overnight layover in Miami. We went to a small, non-descript bar near our hotel and started talking with a few random patrons. Somehow, the topic of Kansas came up, then Topeka then Alonzo's name came up! This young man
we just randomly met in Miami shared many funny stories of his encounters with Alonzo. We talked for hours. I called Alonzo to share the story about the young man in Miami whose first question when he learned I was from Topeka, was "Oh Really, do you know Alonzo Plakio?" A testament to how many lives Alonzo touched, and how he was loved and respected! Alonzo, you will be missed. Love always, Denise, Melvin and Chelsey from Chicago

Zo, it breaks my heart that, knowing I had just seen you a few months prior to your death, was the last time I seen you. I am thankful that I did, and we got some laughs in and a few pictures together. I am going to miss you dearly. You were Big Bro Zo, and I know you are in a better place. Thank you for being YOU. Love you dear friend always. ~ Angee Lyons.

I have been there every step when I saw you out at night & made you go home to get ready for school. Seeing that you graduated, advising you to go to the service & asking my mom to give you the money to leave Topeka. It tears me up when you needed me Sunday I wasn’t there & you crossed over alone. I will miss you & carry you every day in my heart. Til the wheels fall off. Your protector, your voice of reason, your first babysitter your first cousin. Lisa
