Alice Jean Hughes, born February 14, 1936 - September 7, 2020. Alice was born to Woodrow and Dora Cochran in Columbia, Missouri. Both parents preceded her in death. The Cochran family moved to Denver, Colorado in 1943. Alice attended Whittier Elementary, Cole Junior High School. She graduated from Manuel High School in 1953. In 1956 Alice and William Marshall Hughes, Sr married and had twenty-two years as husband and wife. Alice worked for many families throughout the Denver metro area earning the title of “honorary Jew”. She was famous for her Matza Ball Soup in the Jewish community. Alice leaves behind to grieve one daughter, Gloria Jean Alexander-Irvin of Marietta,GA; and four sons; Ernest Jones (deceased) William Marshall Hughes, Jr. (Danielle) Jeffery Lee Hughes (Louise) Of Aurora,Colorado and Micheal DeWayne Hughes (Nancy) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. One brother, Larry Don Cochran , of Denver, Colorado and one sister Peggy Marie Cochran-Brown of Arlington, VA. Alice was blessed with eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was the lifelong friend of Ernestine Jackson. Alice will be missed by her family and friends. We Thank our Heavenly Father for the privilege to call Alice our Mother. Our sincere Thanks to all those who took the time to pray, call, send a note and for all your condolences. Private services were held.
