Please share a memory of Annette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Annette Lee Dudley, born Annette Lee White to Irvin L. White and Ruth T. White, entered this world on January 4, 1936 in Des Moines, IA. She was the second of three daughters born in this family. Annette was called home to join her parents and sisters, Lela Belle Prudhomme and Jill White-McKnight, in heaven on October 28th, 2020. Annette "Annie" grew up and went to school in Des Moines, IA. She attended and graduated from East High School in 1954. She was an honor roll student and served on the Student Council. At a young age, Annette loved to read and looked forward to bible camp every summer. Her ambition in life was "to be like the big dipper - always pointing in the right direction". In her early years, she attended and was an active member of Bethel AME Church in Des Moines. This is where she and her beloved husband, Phillip Norman Dudley, Sr. joined a union in marriage on November 15, 1957. Annette and Phillip raised four sons. In 1970, the young family moved to Colorado, settling in Sheridan, where memories are still being made today. Annette joined Campbell Chapel AME Church in the early 1970's. She was an active member until her health started failing in the middle of 2020. Annette loved Campbell and served on many ministries throughout the years, including the Woman's Ministry, Hospitality Club, and was on the Board of Trustee's as the treasurer. Annette loved being busy, and loved socializing. She joined a special group of women, known as the "Poppin' Sister's". She would enjoy their monthly gatherings which were filled with love, laughter, and friendship. Annette was also an active member of the Iowa Colorado Club. She made many life long friends through different employers. She worked for the City of Sheridan, where she held office on the Board of Treasury. Annette also worked in the school district as a bookkeeper. Later in life she held a position in accounting at Cody Dental Group for approximately seventeen years, until she retired. After retirement she spent time working at the Women's Bean Project, a non-profit organization that helps other women achieve their goals and dreams. Annette also enjoyed traveling. She traveled to Hawaii several times and loved visiting family across the country. She had a love for cooking, and would share her dishes with everyone. Annette was known as Granny and Memaw to her grand and great-grand children. She took joy in attending sporting events and school functions. She was their biggest fan, and was proud of each of them. Annette will always be remembered as kind hearted and caring. The love that she had for the Lord, her family, friends, neighbors, and strangers have inspired many. Annette leaves behind, to carry on her legacy, her husband, Phillip N. Dudley, Sr, her four sons, Phillip N. Dudley Jr, (Hellyn), Gifford A. Dudley (Trish), Edward L. Dudley, and Richard C. Dudley (Angelita). Her nine grandchildren, Brandon Dudley (Megan), Renae Dudley, Esteban Dudley, Lindsey Simon (Gunnar), Olivia Dudley, Cassie Ybarra, Adrien Dudley, Domanica Dudley, and Jamar Dudley. A handful of great grandchildren whom she loved endlessly and a host of extended family and dear friends.
