Obituary of Carrie Marie Scott

Carrie Marie Scott passed away on January 26, 2021 at the Denver Hospice.
Carrie was born on March 4, 1940 in Lake Providence, Louisiana near Olivedell Plantation to the union of Matthew and Martha Yarber. She is preceded in death by her parents, and older brother Fredrick Lloyd Yarber.
Carrie graduated from Manual High School in Denver, Colorado class of 1958. After high school she attended Central Business College in New York. In 1970 she worked for IBM as a secretary until she medically retired.
In 1975, Carrie started her own business C.C.S. LTD (Coordinator, Commentator, Specialist) teaching modeling, charm and pose. From C.C.S. LTD grew models of distinction where she began coordinating, commentating and producing fashion shows.
Later she also attended Bailey School of Broadcasting. Carrie was married to Bob Ragland and was divorced in 1968, she later married Billy J. Scott and together they raised three children; Ricky Yarber, Mark Ragland and Tyra Scott Cain.
Carrie was a member of My Father's House ICDC. She volunteered in various community organizations and received numerous awards. She was a member of the Red Hot Society of Denver. She enjoyed spending time with her family, listening to jazz and contemporary gospel music. She was a great mentor, wife, mother and friend who touched many lives with her compassion, loving and selfless ways. She lived a life of inspiring others. She will be greatly missed.
Carrie is survived by her husband, Billy J. Scott of Denver, CO, two sons, Ricky (Tina) Yarber of Denver, CO and Mark (Diane) Ragland of Decatur, OH; daughter, Tyra (Robert) Cain of Aurora, CO; four brothers, Matthew (Patricia) Yarber of Denver, CO, Vernon (Naomi) Yarber of Carson, CA, James (Marva) Yarber and Melvin (Luevenia) Yarber both of Denver, CO; three sisters, Nikki “Dawn” Wynn, Tuneishia Harris and Kristi Ragsdale all of Denver, CO; 16 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
