Obituary of Deborah Yvonne Harris
Please share a memory of Deborah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Deborah Yvonne Harris was born on December 7, 1960, in Montgomery, Alabama, to her parents, George T. Harris, and Vivian E. Harris. She was raised with two brothers and three sisters. Deborah completed her education in the Denver Public Schools District where she attended and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School.
By profession, Deborah worked for the United Bank of Denver, as a Banker, until she retired. After retirement, Deborah relocated to San Antonio, TX, where she began working as a House Parent at Boysville, Inc. helping with at-risk young boys. Deborah served and accomplished to redirect and encourage many young lives. She received numerous training certificates and awards from both of her jobs. She was an employee who always stood out.
Deborah was a faithful member of In His Care Word of Deliverance Church, under the capable leadership of Bishop Charles Jackson. She served the Lord with all of her heart and loved to work in God’s house. Deborah was gifted to counsel people. She exercised her gift with her family and friends, helping them all in one way or another.
In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, studying her Bible, hanging out with family, and helping her family wherever she could. When thinking of Deborah, what comes to mind are her words, “I am trusting God for whatever.” Her favorite things were the color purple, violet flowers, and gospel music. Her best friend and confidant, Sylvia Carmona, will always remember Deborah for her smile and her delightful personality. She was truly a joy to be around.
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, George T. and Vivian E. Harris; and her sisters, Patricia Morgan and Darlene Harris.
Deborah Yvonne Harris departed this life on March 12, 2021 and entered into rest. She leaves a legacy of understanding and compassion with her nephews/adopted sons, Michael Harris of Denver, CO, Erik Harris of Commerce City, CO, and James Henry of San Antonio, TX; her brothers, George T. Harris, Jr., and Michael Harris, Sr. both of Denver, CO; her sister, Vickie (Davnnci) Wright of Dallas, TX; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
