Obituary
Obituary of Arria Mae Buchanan
Please share a memory of Arria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on of the life of Arria Mae Buchanan on May 4, 1934, in Okolona, Oklahoma. She was one of six children born to the late Isom and Amelia Buchanan.
She always had an anointing over her life as a small child and she received Jesus as her personal savior at an early age. Arria was reared and educated in Mississippi where she graduated from the school district there.
In her early age, she did a lot of volunteering in different hospitals and because she was so caring, she decided to further her career in nursing and became a CNA working in numerous facilities. After leaving Mississippi, she and her family eventually moved to Michigan where she started her paying job as a nurse.
Later, she moved to Denver, Colorado and began to get into Bible studies, singing in the choir and doing whatever she could in serving the Lord. After some years, she was eventually ordained as a Pastor on March 25, 2005 under the covering of Colorado Christian Fellowship.
On April 13, 2014, she received her certificate for completing the New Testament Survey with Dr. Craig Blomberg under the leadership of Rev. Dr. E. Christopher Hill, the former Pastor of Potter’s House Church of Denver, Inc.
She was a devoted member of the church, doing whatever she could to get souls saved until her health began to fail her and even then, she was always trying to bring the word to people even in her residence at Juanita Nolasco Residence.
It was here that she met Louise Rodarte after Ms. Rodarte moved into the building in October of 2011, and they soon became inseparable. They did everything together including shopping, going out to dinner, studying the bible, and bringing others in to share the word. They loved to watch Christian movies and gospel TV, as well as cooking together.
Pastor Buchanan was such a sweet woman and a mother to everyone. She loved her gospel music and preaching the word of God. Her favorite color was red, and she loved roses. She was kind and a woman that would give you the shirt off her back if she thought you needed it. She always had that listening ear for anyone, and a smile that would light up the room.
To know Pastor Arria Mae Buchanan was to love her and she will be missed.
Pastor Arria Mae Buchanan went from labor to reward on Thursday, April 22, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memory, her nieces, nephews, cousins, her devoted friend, Louise Rodarte and all her friends at Juanita Nolasco Residence.
Rest in Peace…. Pastor Buchanan
