Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Frank McClain, Jr., on February 6, 1950, in Isola, Mississippi when he was born to Frank McClain, Sr., and Archie Lee McClain. Frank was the fifth out of eleven children born to this union, he had six brothers Ulyses, AJ, Billy, George, Alfred, and Tommy and four sisters Nancy, Daisy, Doris, and Teresa.
As a child, he loved sports and singing. Educated in the public schools’ system, Frank graduated from Manual High School in June of 1968. He also attended the University of Colorado for one year. Later, he joined the United States Navy where he served from 1970 to 1979. His final rank was a PC3, where he was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. Frank was involved with the US Air Force Traffic Safety 1991, Army Recruiter 1979-1993, Disabled American Veterans 2013, and The American Legion 2020.
Frank was the proud father of four children Frank, III, Tommy, Andre, and Torri. He was later blessed with grandchildren Troy, II, Tory, La’Quayay, Dre’Jhanae, Zyniah, Deana, and Jordin. They called him Grandpa Frank, and loved him dearly as he did them. After the death of his two grandsons Troy and Tory’s mother in 2019, they spent almost every holiday with him enjoying the memories of their mother, good food and playing dominoes which was Grandpa Franks’ favorite pastime.
By profession, Frank was an Army Recruiter for US Customs House for two years. He was employed the longest at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center where he was an Emergency Admissions Clerk.
In his free time, Frank enjoyed dancing, fishing, gambling, and traveling. His best friend Vincent Robinson will always remember him for his competitiveness, loyalty, and his funny wits.
His favorite color was gray, and he enjoyed listening to R&B music. His independence, strong opinion and love for his family will never be forgotten. This loving, and caring man will be deeply missed. To know Frank, was to love him.
