Simon Peter Pakala, born July 29, 1959, in Perth Amboy, NJ, passed away in Aurora, Colorado on June 14, 2023. Simon was raised in Milltown, NJ by his parents, John and Irene Pakala, who pre-deceased him. He is also pre-deceased by his older brother, John Pakala III.
Simon is survived by his brother, Paul Pakala of Brillion, WI and his sisters, Victoria Pakala of Brick, NJ and Marianne Benson of North Plainfield, NJ as well as his sister-in-law, Edna Johnson of Jersey City, NJ. Also surviving is Simon’s former wife, Kathleen Burke and his twenty-two nieces and nephews.
Simon attended Milltown schools and St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, NJ. A friend of Bill W., Simon was sober for more than 30 years and supported many people in their journey to sobriety. Simon had a big heart and generous spirit. He would give you the shirt off his back, even if that left him shirtless. He loved to play the guitar and sing for the enjoyment of others.
There will be a graveside memorial service for Simon at 11am, Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery in Fords, NJ.
