Obituary of Cheryl Lynn Potter
Please share a memory of Cheryl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Cheryl Lynn Potter, age 64 of Denver, Colorado, passed away in Denver on September 23, 2023, surrounded by her parents and siblings. Cheryl was born in Denver on April 22, 1959, to Laurette (née Hildebrandt) and W. Fred Potter. She is survived by her parents. Cheryl was an impassioned and influential big sister.
She will be greatly missed by her sister Nina “Boots” Potter, brother Jason Potter, and sister Hillary Potter (Fernando Guzmán III). Cheryl was a proud auntie who is survived by her nieces (who she doted on!), Lauren Potter, Lindsay Davis Potter, Myah Shay Potter, and Maya Lanae Potter; and her nephews, Cheyne Potter and Caelan Potter. Cheryl also leaves behind many friends and other family members, including cousin Leila McBride Hill, a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, Denver, who gave much love and essential guidance for the medical care for Cheryl while she was in hospital and hospice care in the weeks before her passing.
Cheryl was a woman of great faith and a proud member of Encounter Church of Centennial, Colorado, where she served on ministry teams. She also enjoyed cooking and shopping. Cheryl was a diligent employee of the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.
Cheryl demonstrated her devout Christianity, her strength, and her concern for the wellbeing of her sisters and nieces when she was faced with a diagnosis of metastasized gallbladder cancer. While this devastating diagnosis was a tremendous shock for Cheryl and her family, which was given only one month before she passed, Cheryl stayed in high spirits as she believed in God’s plan for her. This resolve shown by Cheryl is captured in one of her many cherished Bible scriptures:
Wait on the LORD;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the LORD!
(Psalm 27:14)
