Obituary of Deborah Denise Johnson

Please share a memory of Deborah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Deborah Denise Johnson on May 16, 1960, in South Bend, Indiana when she was born to James and Bernice Scott. She was the third out of nine children born to this union. Deborah had three brothers, Gregory, James, and Cornelius and five sisters, Beverly, Lisa, Marie, Angela, and Brenda. As a child, she was very into sports and ended up running track later. She was also very active and such a tomboy. Deborah attended Harrison Elementary School in Indiana, and after moving to Denver, Colorado she attended Merrill Junior High and graduated from South High School. Later she ran into Gregory A. Johnson, whom she had known since her childhood and on March 20, 1982, they were united in marriage in Aurora, Colorado. The marriage consisted of having a family, traveling, camping, and spending time with family. Deborah was the proud and devoted mother of Lamont, Teresa, Myesha, and Elisa. The children remember how she loved to go up to Blackhawk and was so very accepting of everyone. She never judged anyone for how they were. She was later blessed with twenty grandchildren and six great grandchildren who called her “Grandma”. Deborah loved all her grandkids and spent a lot of time with each of them. Deborah was a member of Eternal Life Baptist Church. By profession, she was a homemaker, but she also worked as a cashier at Walmart for a few years. Her coworkers remember her being a woman with many trades. In her free time, she enjoyed puzzles, spending time with her family, watching westerns, and reading her bible. Her best friends, her mother, her sister, Ahmiya Johnson, and Myesha Johnson will forever cherish how loving she was, her coffee, and her sense of humor. Her favorite color was emerald green, she loved roses and lilies, and the sounds of gospel music. This sweet, loving, kind, and caring lady will be deeply missed. To know Deborah was to love her. The sun set on the life of Mrs. Deborah Denise Johnson on October 14, 2023, in Denver, Colorado when she passed from this life into her eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Scott. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Gregory Johnson; son, Lamont Scott; daughters, Elisa Johnson, Teresa Johnson, and Myesha Johnson; father, James (Ruthie) Scott, Sr.; brothers, James (Kirsten) Scott, Gregory (Shelley) Scott, and Cornelius (Melissa) Glass; sisters, Beverly Scott, Marilyn Jones, Angela (Terry) Scott, Lisa (Derrick) Marshall, and Brenda (Aaron) Gray; 20 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
