The Life of Mrs. Laurene Martin Mrs. Laurene Morgan Slater Martin was born November 23, 1928, in Panola County, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Cora and Dudley Morgan. She received Christ at an early age. She was united in Holy matrimony to the late Marion Slater, Sr. of Ft. Worth, Texas. To this union six children were given: Marion S. Slater of Atlanta, GA, Billy Slater (deceased), Ann L. Slater of Denver, CO, Linda G. Bell of Denver, CO, George H. Slater of Ft. Worth, TX, and James D. Slater of Ft. Worth, TX. Mrs. Laurene later was united in Holy matrimony to Perry E. Martin of Bowling Green, KY. They were in a bond for 51 years. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a beautiful grandmother. On October 30, 2023, she took a lasting flight and went to her everlasting home at approximately 10:25 AM. She leaves to cherish her sweet memories other than her children previously mentioned; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends. “Unto Thee O’ Lord do I lift up my soul, The Lord is my light.”
