The sun rose on the life of Janet Kilgore Taylor in Batavia, Ohio on April 11, 1939, when she was born to Joshua and Fannie Kilgore. The youngest of four children born to this union, Janet had one brother, Richard, and two sisters, Barbara Jean, and Sarah. As a child, she would raise baby chickens in a box around the house until they were able to go outside. Janet also worked in the various gardens that the family had. Educated in the public school system, Janet graduated from Batavia High School in Batavia, Ohio. She continued her studies by attending Technical College where she graduated in Cincinnati, Ohio and became a Technical Customer Service Analyst. Janet met Leroy Taylor in Denver, Colorado and in June of 1986 they were united in marriage. Janet never had any children, but she would refer to her nephews as her boys. Janet was a member of Scott United Methodist Church for 37 years where she served as head usher, church historian, Sunday School teacher, on the memorial board committee, the finance committee, the administrative board, and was a member of the seniors’ ministry. She was an avid genealogist who would encourage and assist members of Scott in tracing their family history. She was also a member of the Denver Genealogy Society. Janet had a long career with Eastern Kodak as an Equipment Service Representative. Janet was a member of the Electra Chapter #16 OES PHA. While living here in Denver she developed a great sisterhood and friendship with Karen Burroughs for over 30 years. Janet had the privilege to publish two books on the Kilgore family history. This loving, kind, caring, sweet, and beautiful lady will be deeply missed. To know Janet was to love her.
