The sun rose on the life of Ellis B. Linville, Sr. on September 16, 1942, in Mart, Texas when he was born to Willard and Ernie Linville. He was the fifth out of eight children born. As a child, he was active in sports. Educated in the public school system, Ellis graduated from Davenport High School in Big Lake, Texas. He received many awards in sports during his time in high school. Ellis met Essie D. Perryman in school and on November 23, they were united in marriage at Bethlehem Church in Big Lake, Texas. He was the proud and devoted father of three children Ellis Jr., Perry, and Veggie whom he loved all dearly. He was later blessed with nine grandchildren who called him “Papa” and “Grandpa”. He later met and married Ivory Jackson whom he shared a relationship with up until her passing. Ellis was a member of Jordan Chapel AME Church for many years. By profession, he was a supervisor in the industrial field. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His favorite color was gray, he loved roses and the sounds of blues and old school music. “Dad was a joy to be around with his jokes and his laughter and was truly a powerhouse”. “Dad taught me Ellis Jr., about racing cars, engine building and life in general. He was loved so very much by all his family and friends. Dad taught me and Perry Sr., to be strong just like him as well as a provider for the family”. Ellis also gave back to his community and the church he faithfully attended. This loving, thoughtful, kind, and caring man will be deeply missed. To know Ellis was to love him. The sun set on the life of Mr. Ellis B. Linville, Sr. on December 10, 2023, in Denver, Colorado when he passed from this life into his eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, daughter, Veggie D. Linville, and his wife, Ivory Linville. Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Ellis B.
