My memories go back to Ancestry finding my roots and the Dowell/ Dowdell spelling, after seeing that I shared a DNA match with Woodrow’s great-niece
Ta Shell and getting to share with Seth. We connected and talked over the years. We were so excited. After that, we stayed in touch and often I would ask about Woodrow. I didn't have the opportunity to meet Woodrow in person. No, words can express my feelings about your loss. In this sorrowful time, we would like to extend to you our heartfelt condolences. May our Lord comfort you and your loved ones.

My heart, prayers and love go out to Roxx and Mari as they lay their superhero to his eternal rest. My first time meeting Woodrow was like being caught in a whirlpool. His smile, laugh and jokes would keep a smile on your face. He loved his Roxx. Mari was his baby. You could tell by the way he looked at them. Such love and pride - it went both ways. What a legacy he has left! Rest in paradise sir. We’ll make sure your girls are ok.

Woodrow (Woody) you will be missed. My retired buddy and comrade. We were comrades in American Legion Post #87. Woody was our chief cook whenever we had our post fish fry. Everything had to be just right. I was in the kitchen with Woody and we would joke and laugh, but put out a good product.
Upon closing and cleaning up we would retire to the bar for a nip. (smile) and more laughs. Woody had a speech impediment that kept your attention. He will be missed. Rest in peace my brother.

I light this candle for Woodrow, Roxanne and Mari. I remember many Saturday's being picked up or dropped off at the mall in the whale he called a car:) Barbecue with delicious food and having to make sure it was beef cuz Woodrow was known to freestyle the meats :) Rest easy, sir for you earned it! Woodrow and I were close second cousins. We would spend many summers together in Birmingham when he would visit his father and grandmother, Nellie. She and my grandmother, Minerva, were sisters and lived together for many years. Woodrow and I had a lot of fun together even after growing old. We would correspond through Christmas cards in the mail for years. I have not had the privilege of meeting any of his children, but it is my hope that I do one day.
I remember that Woodrow had a stutter, but he never let that stop him! He took pride in saying what he wanted to tell you, even if it took all day.
He was a loving brother and cousin and I will miss him.

I remember when You were home on leave and You came to the house and we all were making so much noise and having so much fun and Daddy, your Uncle said, “alright, cut out that loud noise and we all silenced ourselves and then we began to laugh out loud again! Words cannot begin to express the loss of my dearest first cousin Woodrow. Woodrow is my Father’s Brothers Son! I have always felt that he was my brother growing around each other. I always looked up to him. He is a man of honor and just his presence magnifies honor dignity and strength in faith and courage. We, my sisters and I adored him. He was always a gentleman! I will miss Woodrow’s physical being on earth, but, I know his ‘spirit’ will never leave me/us/his family! You are so forever loved ‘Our Woodrow’! Amen!
