Bettye Jean Gaiter Obituary

The sun rose on the life of Bettye Jean Gaiter on July 3, 1938, in Houston, Texas when she was born to Linnell Sr. and Lillie Mae Milton. The oldest out of five children born, Bettye had two brothers Bobby, and Kenneth, and two sisters Gloria, and Ossie. As a child, she was very active in church.

Educated in the public school system, Bettye graduated from Phyllis Wheatly High School.

Bettye met Phillip Malone, her lifetime partner whom she had kept a relationship with for 44 years. She was the proud and devoted mother of Dwight, Lydia, Vincent, Martin, and Phillip whom she loved all dearly. Bettye was later blessed with 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren whom she truly enjoyed. They remember how they loved to jump on her trampoline in the backyard along with the huge tree and all the gifts during Christmas time.

Bettye was a member of New Hope Baptist Church for 33 years where she served as a Deaconess, former head of the Mission Society, faithful member of Sunday School, and played the piano. Bettye was also a member of the Mile High United Way, Wheatly Booster, Western States Baptist Convention, and N.R.A.B.

By profession, she was a Mortgage Loan Officer for 25 years with Wells Fargo Bank in Denver, Colorado.

In her free time, she enjoyed going to church, and spending time in her backyard looking at her beautiful flowers. Her best friends will forever cherish her beautiful smile and her generosity. She was always willing to help others and had that open door for anyone to come over and have dinner at the table.

Her favorite color was navy blue, and the sounds of gospel music she truly enjoyed.

This sweet, loving, kind, and caring lady will be deeply missed. To know Bettye was to love her.

The sun set on the life of Bettye Jean Gaiter on April 26, 2024, in Denver, Colorado when she passed from this life into her eternal rest in the heavens.

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Bobby, Kenneth, and Gloria.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Dwight (Crystal) Gaiter of Loveland, CO, Vincent Gaiter of Albuquerque, NM, Martin Gaiter of Eugene, OR, Phillip Malone III of Aurora, CO, and Lydia Flynn of Denver, CO; sister, Ossie Y. Milton of Houston, TX; lifetime partner, Phillip Malone, Jr. of Denver, CO; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
