Obituary of Betty Ruth Marsh

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Betty Ruth Marsh on November 14, 1944, in Denver, Colorado when she was born to Ellis Baker and Evelyn L. Williams. The fourth out of eight children born, Betty had four brothers, Kenith, Keith, Darrell, and Bernie and three sisters, Beverly, Vicky, and Patricia. She also had a half-sister, Patsy. As a child, Betty was placed from foster home to foster home and when she became a teenager, she moved to California to live with her aunt Roberta which then became the best years of her life. Educated in the public school system, Betty attended Cole Junior High and graduated from Dorsey High School in Los Angeles, California. She later met Henry Leslie Marsh while attending a party in Los Angeles and on June 26, 1965, they were united in marriage at the County Courthouse in San Francisco. Henry was a musician and Betty would often go to support him and listen to him play the saxophone. She was the proud and devoted mother of Roberta, Gary, Naima, Latif, Dean, and Selima whom she loved all dearly. The children remember how she always had their backs no matter what, and how she was truly their rock. She was later blessed with grandchildren who called her “Grandmother” and remember how she did not play. She was very loving but very firm as well, she meant what she said and always wanted them to do their best in whatever they decided to do in life. Betty was a member of United Methodist Church in Los Angeles. She would later attend Berean Bible Church here in Denver alongside her family. By profession, she was a cosmetologist and manicurist in California. She then joined Denver Public Schools where she taught sewing. Her final position was a Switch Board Operator for DPS. Her coworkers really enjoyed working with her and always made sure to look out for one another. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing and making flower arrangements. Her favorite color was green, she loved red roses, and the sounds of R&B music. Betty truly had a heart of gold and was very serious when it came to her money. After growing up poor she learned to appreciate the value of a dollar and if you stole from her, it was never a good outcome for sure and everyone in the family knew it. This sweet, loving, kind, beautiful, and caring lady will be deeply missed. To know Betty was to love her. The sun set on the life of Betty Ruth Marsh on May 27, 2024, in Aurora, Colorado when she passed from this life into her eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Kenith, Bernie, Patsy, Beverly, and Vicky, son, Dean and daughter, Roberta. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Gary Marsh of Denver, CO, Latif Rahim of Kansas City, MO, Naima Rahim of Los Angeles, CA, and Selima Rahim of Aurora, CO; siblings, Keith Berry of Denver, CO, Darrell Rawls of Denver, CO, and Patricia (Chandler) Glover of Aurora, CO; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
