Obituary of Joshua Alexander Hill

Joshua Alexander Hill was born on November 23, 1996, in Denver, CO to Ronda Mosley and Daniel Hill. He was the second child of Ronda and Daniel, following his big brother Jordan. Joshua grew up surrounded by family and they had a significant role in his upbringing; his aunts and uncles were his secondary parents, and his cousins were his siblings. His father has fond memories of him loving to attend his military Christmas parties and he and Jordan always asking to sit “in the way way back,” referring to the back of the car, instead of their car seats. Joshua was a fun kid who loved adventures, laughing, and most of all meddling! He was affectionately known as "Big Dossy," a name given to him by his Uncle Tim and when Big Dossy showed up, Big Dossy showed out Ronda described Joshua as her rambunctious child who tested her nerves in every way “but that was my baby, and I loved every bit of his badness.” He adored his mother, or “Old Lady” as he called her. She recalls her shock to find out he had her name tattooed on his neck AND her birthday on his arm. They had an exceptionally close bond, and he wore his title of mama’s boy with honor. So much so that he made it a point to inform anyone he dated that he and his mama were best friends. He talked to her daily and loved being in her presence. In the words of his Aunt J “he was his mama’s booty sniffer” Joshua's educational journey included attending Phillips Elementary, Columbine Elementary, Morey Middle School, and he graduated from East High School in 2013. His school years were marked by the friendships he forged and the joy he brought to those around him. His presence was a beacon of laughter and joy, and he was often the favorite among his younger cousins. Joshua was cherished for his exceptionally caring personality, generous character, and infectious sense of humor. Ok let’s just be real, Josh played too much! In adulthood Joshua never lost his propensity to meddle. Josh quit meddling! Josh quit playing! Josh! If you didn’t hear this at a family gathering, Josh must’ve been sick or missing. Somehow, no matter how much he meddled, frustration couldn’t survive the laughter that followed because his smile was irresistible. Despite their outward resistance, the older boys grew to cherish his off-guard bear hugs and inescapable kisses. The person who probably got the bulk of Josh’s terror was Faith. His little sister/cousin. They were frenemies who were known for going tit for tat. The last day Faith spent with him; they were at their Grandpa’s House. Guess what you heard, “Josh!” and Faith’s disdain because he locked her in the room upstairs with the little closet that they are both afraid of. As much as loved to see her squirm, Faith was his heart and he loved her with everything he had. Usually if you saw Josh, you saw one of “the boys,” his brother-cousins who each had a collective and separate bond with him. Each of them recalls him as the type of person who would literally give the shoes off his feet if he knew you wanted them. They were a family within the family and their love for each other was unbreakable. Josh even cooked for them…at midnight… because he suddenly wanted a chicken dinner, and you can guarantee they showed up for the feast. They have countless memories of all of the escapades they would go on. Some of them are known to all of us, some of them only amongst the crew. Even during family trips, he and the boys were known for their adventurous escapades, stories of which would be recounted for years to come. Tragically, Joshua departed from this world on May 31, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Joshua is preceded in death by his grandmother Melvin Mosley, his uncle’s Morn Mosley and Henry Mosley Jr, and his cousin Neal Mosley. He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory: his parents Ronda Mosley and Daniel (Janine) Hill; his siblings Jordan Hill, Brandon Hill, Kacey Hill, and Ryan Hill, and his maternal grandfather Henry Mosley; and his paternal grandmother Beverly Hill. Joshua's warmth, humor, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed, but he will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
