Lincoln left us far too soon. He was one of our bright lights at both Slavens and Southmoor during the past two summers of camp. Always ready with a tight hug and a big smile, Lincoln’s warmth touched everyone who met him. He had a special way of making people feel loved and appreciated, and he was truly one of the sweetest kids we had the pleasure of knowing. His presence will be missed dearly, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him at Slavens Summer Camp and Southmoor Summer Camp.

Q: How would you describe Lincoln to someone who had never met them?
A: If I could describe Lincoln I would first say that to know him was to know that angels live among us daily. He was truly created in the image and likenesses of the Lord. He loved you unconditionally rather he knew you or not. He was loving, caring, compassionate, unjugdemental, sincere, friendly, hopeful, understanding, and full of life. He did not allow his Dravet to get the best of him. He weathered his storms with dignity and pride. He learned to weather the storm and not allowing his storms to weather him. He was a brave and strong boy with a mindset that I he was more than a conquer and I will overcome every obstacle set before me. So know this he was placed here on purpose for a purpose and to me that was Lincoln Thomas Abeyta an Angel meant to live among Us!

I have known Lincoln his whole life. Who would of thought that an angel lived among us. He had a bright and wonderful smile. All he wanted to do was please his mom and dad. He loved to play Uno and he would say to me before we got started is I'm going to win. He will not be forgotten his smile will live on in us.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Lincoln all of his life. Little did we know that for 10 years we lived with an angel among us. He always had a wonderful smile and always wanted to please his mom and dad. He loved to play Uno and he would always open with I am going to be at you Grandma!

Lincoln was a highlight of my summer.
Lincoln was a highlight of my summer. As staff, we’re not supposed to have favorites; but quietly, I knew that Lincoln was my favorite. My sincere hope is that his summer was as joyful, fun, and engaging as he made ours.
He loved to play catch, and he had a cannon for an arm. One time, he threw a ball so high it got stuck in the rafters in the gym. “Home run!” he exclaimed with equal parts excitement and pride. His hoop skills were noteworthy, too. One day, he decided to count the buckets he made during recess: “102,” he said, satisfied yet casual, “I made 102.”
His affection and subtle sense of humor were bright spots in my day. He loved to play Uno--and he loved to win. When he didn’t win, he’d assure me, with a smile on his face, that he’d get me next time.
He was always eager to make new friends, and he adored the song “Can’t Stop Us Now” by Pitbull, along with, of course, Toy Story 2. He enjoyed guessing the time, and while we would have lots of fun together, he always looked forward to when mom or dad would arrive to pick him up.
I consider my time with Lincoln a true gift. His enduring enthusiasm and inner strength would bring a smile to my face and joy to my heart even after our day had ended and everyone had gone home. No surprise, then, that he’s still bringing those same smiles and joy.

Lincoln was such a great kid! Always so kind and thoughtful to others, I was blessed to build a bond with him during the last two Summer Camps, as a one on one and as his teacher, we would always play basketball and he was so good at it!! I will remember his big smile and contagious laugh, him loving music, and games. He will truly be missed by all of us! My deepest condolences to his family & friends.
