Obituary of Vernon Wayne Dorsey, Jr.

The sun rose on the life of Vernon Wayne Dorsey, Jr. on July 21, 1988, in Denver, Colorado when he was born to Vernon Wayne Sr. and Roshan Judith Gilson. Vernon was the first out of two children born. He had one sister, Mirita Janney. As a child, he enjoyed many things like animals, fixing things, model cars, helping around the house, cooking, and eating. He loved his sister and doing things with his hands. Educated in the public school system, Vernon attended school in the Aurora Public Schools District. Vernon met Nydoni Lual at the Aurora Mall in 2008 and on July 6, 2023, they were united in marriage at the Arapahoe County Courthouse in Aurora, Colorado. The couple enjoyed going to the movies, the casino, and out to dinner. He was also the proud and loving father of Versaviya Blue whom he loved dearly. By profession, he worked in construction, electrical and general labor. Vernon was last employed at Local Union 7 where he worked as a stagehand for 1 year. In his free time, he enjoyed music, nature, animals, and martial arts. His best friends David, Kevin, Alex, Zhanda, Trahavonie and Raphael along with many others will forever cherish his humor, charisma, and his love for life. His favorite color was blue, he loved the flower roses, and the sounds of rap and 80’s music. Vernon was a good person and a true friend who had a great personality and a wonderful smile. This loving, kind, and caring man will be deeply missed. To know Vernon was to love him. The sun set on the life of Vernon Wayne Dorsey. Jr. on August 31, 2024, in Aurora, Colorado when he passed from this life into his eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his father. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Nydoni Dorsey of Aurora, CO; daughter, Versaviya Dorsey of Aurora, CO; mother, Roshan “Pickles” Gilson of Aurora, CO; sister, Mirita (Brent) Dupree of Riley, NC; 1 niece, 1 nephew; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
