Obituary of Marvin Lee King, Jr.

Please share a memory of Marvin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mother Teresa once said, “Spread love everywhere you go, let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.” This was the motto of our beloved brother, uncle, nephew and friend, Marvin Lee King, Jr. Marvin was born on April 17, 1955, to the late Mildred Morgan and Marvin Lee King, Sr. Growing up, Marvin loved music. You could always find him at a piano or singing around the house. He truly enjoyed attending church musicals, whenever he could. Marvin was also a great artist, he could draw with ease and spent much of his spare time doing so. He had a real love for old TV series, like The Little Rascals, which is where he gained his nickname “Spanky.” He also had a very witty sense of humor, and a quick tongue, so quick you may not even recognize that he’d just insulted you. He graduated in 1974, from Central High School, in Little Rock, AR. While attending school Marvin was active in the Central High School Choir. After he graduated, he became a major part of a community choir, “The Ambassadors” a well-known group in Little Rock, organized and directed by his close friend, Leonard Givens. After a short stay in East St. Louis, IL, Marvin moved to Denver, Colorado in 1979. After visiting many churches, he became a member of First Christian Assembly, under the leadership of Pastor Madlyn Tombs. Pastor Tombs always ministered to Marvin and encouraged him to always live his life according to the Word of God. Marvin loved God and could always find his way to scriptures that carried him through many circumstances in his life. He was a hard worker and spent many years working for various companies, but found joy every day in being able to help others. We say “see you later” to Marvin Lee King, Jr., who departed this life on September 21, 2024. Marvin wasn’t afraid to leave this earth and constantly reminded us that he was ready to meet his Heavenly Father. He leaves to cherish his memories to his loving sister, Terrie Felicia Graham (Vincent), his devoted brother, Otis Hardy, Jr., his baby sister, Antoinette “Toni” Morgan (Jeffery), and his adopted twin sisters, April and Amber Morgan. His mother, Mildred Morgan, father, Marvin Lee King, Sr., and brother, Ondra Demitrius Mayes have all preceded him in death. Marvin possessed a true servant’s heart by caring for his family and friends. Throughout his life he maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many.
