Obituary of Rochelle Morton

Please share a memory of Rochelle to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Rochelle Morton on December 28, 1956 in Queens, New York when she was born to Concetta (Fredrick II) Mellilo - Pierre. The second of seven children, Rochelle had two brothers, Keith and Frederick III and four sisters, Cynthia, Rona, Donna and Anita. As a child, she was independent, a leader and outspoken. "She used to laugh at herself because she had no rhythm." Educated in the public school system, she graduated from Springfield Gardens High School in Queens. "She was a majorette and practiced judo." On December 19, 1999, Rochelle was united in marriage with Gerald Morton in Queens. He remembers her as funny and lovable. They had a bond like no other. He always said to her, "Okay, Rochelle." To this union was born one precious son, Damien. Additionally they were blessed with two beautiful grand daughters, Da'Neah and Alana. Rochelle and Gerald were delighted to have their family. Da'Neah remembers, "I will remember my Grandma's hugs and kisses and her "I love you." Alana remembers, "the time I spent with her and talking to her after school." Rochelle was employed in the Dietary Department at the University of Colorado Hospital. She will be remembered fondly and missed by her co-workers. In her free time, she enjoyed family and friends, playing bingo and watching TV. Reality shows were her favorite. Her best friends, Susan Tramantano and Paige Burnham will miss her ability to make them laugh and all of their late night talks. Her favorite color was purple and she loved oldies and jazz music. Her favorite advice was "Hold money on midnight on New Year's Eve". Her love, presence, beautiful smile and caring will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved this beautiful woman. "I was the daughter you never had. I love you so much, but your son had called for you. We can't be selfish. Now the two of you are together again. We would not cry, we will rejoice. Love, Natasha A." On October 21, 2013, the sun set on the life of Mrs. Rochelle Morton when she passed into eternal rest. She is welcomed home by her son. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Gerald Morton of Denver, CO; mother, Concetta (Fredrick II) Mellilo-Pierre of Queens, NY; grand daughters, Da'Neah Morton and Alana Morton; brothers, Keith Mellilo of Los Angeles, CA and Fredrick Pierre III of Reseda, CA; sisters, Cynthia Mellilo of Queens Village, NY, Rona Pierre of Omaha, NE, Donna (Char) Pierre of Denver, CO and Anita (Donald) Riley of Aurora, CO; niece/daughter, Natasha Allen of Queens Village, NY; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, grand nieces, grand nephews and friends.
