Obituary of Charles Kermett McNeill
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mr. Charles Kermett McNeill (affectionately known to all as "Chuck") on February 5, 1946 in Moore County, North Carolina when he was born to Horace Simmons, Sr. and Elnora E. McNeil. The oldest of twelve children, Chuck had seven brothers, Horace Jr., Milton, Lazarus, Joseph, Mack, Raymond and Tim and four sisters, Eunice, Claudine, Della and Felicia. A happy and adventurous child, Chuck was always exploring. He once fell out of the apple tree and dislocated his shoulder. Educated in the public school system, Chuck graduated from Pinkney High School in Carthage, North Carolina. Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Air Force with honor and distinction. Upon completing his active duty, he received an Honorable Discharge from his government and a grateful nation. He was the loving father of five children, Kenneth, Ardelia "Dee", Charles, Mary and Kevin. They remember the many camping trips he took them on near Blackhawk, Colorado. He was a very giving father who loved his children. Additionally, his grandchildren, Jeremy, Derrick, Tajh, Savion, Stacy, Paul, Michael, Tevin and Kalun added much joy and pride in his life. They remember "Grandpa Chuck" always leaving the receipts on the many Christmas toys he gave them. Also, he would buy every one of them a shirt, all the same color and same size. It was up to the parents to sort it out! After moving to Denver, CO in 1970, Chuck worked as a car salesman at Burt Toyota. He became the owner and operator of All Around Escort Service in the 90's. All of his clients knew him as dedicated and hard working. Chuck was also an accomplished chef. He loved hanging out at the motorcycle club, driving into the mountains and celebrating the holidays. At Thanksgiving and Christmas you always saw him organizing deliveries of turkeys, dinners and toys for the kids. He hosted a dinner every year for anyone who would come to share at Thanksgiving. But to Chuck, his birthday was the biggest celebration. He threw a huge birthday party every year and actually celebrated the entire month of February. His best friends, Michael Taylor, Sr. and brother, Horace Jr. (to name a few) will miss his loyal friendship. Horace Jr. remembers, "If you were hurt from a fall or whatever, he was like the paramedic to make sure you were alright." His strength of character, loving kindness, generosity and caring attitude will be deeply missed by the many, many people whose lives this "gentle man" touched. To know Chuck was to love him. On November 5, 2013 the sun set on the life of Mr. Charles Kermett "Chuck" McNeill as he passed into eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Della and son, Kevin. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Kenneth (Ruby) Nobles of Lakewood, CO and Charles (Elva) McNeill of Thornton, CO; daughters, Mary Nobles of Denver, CO and Ardelia "Dee" (Charles) Seghers of Aurora, CO; brothers, Horace Jr. (Cynthia), Milton, Lazarus, Joseph (Cathy), Mack (Flossie), Raymond (Visa) and Timothy (Gayle) Simmons; sisters, Eunice (Elma) Caple, Ora (Anthony) Allen and Felicia (Walter) Christanson; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends including Taylor Mortuary and their associates.
Rest in peace...Chuck
