Obituary of Mabel James Williams

Please share a memory of Mabel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Mabel James Williams on June 27, 1914 in Macon, Georgia when she was born to Jim James and Lois Shotes. The second of three children and only daughter, Mabel had two brothers, Basil and Mack. She lost her mother at an early age and was subsequently raised by her loving and devoted grandmother, Nancy Harris. An active and giving child, she loved learning new things. She was always reading and sharing what she had read and learned. On July 4, 1956, Mabel was united in marriage with Samuel Williams at the Hosley Temple CME Church in Macon. To this union were born two precious sons, Michael and Basil. She was a loving and devoted mother. The boys remember, "She provided all needs and wants. She would not allow us to do without. She kept us in the church, to believe and trust in God and get a good education. She was the best cook ever." In later years, her grandchildren, Aja, Basil Jr., Kristina, Rachel and great grandson, Cameron remember "Grandmother" as warm and loving. A woman of faith, Mabel was a member of Hosley Temple CME Church where she held the office of Stewardess. She devoted her life to caring for her family and serving others through the church and her community. She enjoyed time with family and friends, going to church, traveling and talking with friends. Her many friends will always remember Mabel for caring about and giving her time to all in the community and her church. "She was always there to talk when needed, lend a hand when needed, share food and resources. She was a giver to those in need and a mother to all." This caring, warm, friendly, nurturing, giving woman was ever encouraging and supportive to everyone she came into contact with. Can't was not in her vocabulary. Her favorite color was pink, she loved roses and most enjoyed gospel music. Her love, generosity, kindness and helping hands will be deeply missed be all who were blessed to share a part of this precious woman's life. To know Mabel was truly to love her. The sun set on the life of Mrs. Mabel James Williams on November 7, 2013 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and husband. Those left to cherish her beautiful memory include her sons, Basil (Vickie) Williams, Sr. of Aurora, CO and Michael (Lelani) Williams of Fayetteville, GA; grandchildren, Aja Jamela Williams, Basil James Williams, Jr., both of Aurora, CO, Kristina Williams and Rachel Williams of Fayetteville, GA; great grandson, Cameron Michael Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
