Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas Henry Juniel (affectionately known as "Bubba") was born on July 10, 1937 to Thomas Gordon Juniel and Johnnie Ree Victoria Tate in Denver, Colorado. Thomas was the only son and the third of four children. He had three sisters, Racelle, Rudell and Mildred.Thomas received his formal education in the Denver public school system and graduated from Manual High School in June, 1955.Shortly after high school graduation, Thomas enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served his country from August 23, 1955 until 1963. He was stationed at Moffett Field in Mountainview, California. Having completed his active duty, Thomas received an Honorable Discharge from the Navy and a grateful nation. Upon returning home to Colorado, Thomas was employed by the United States Postal Service. Additionally, he became an officer for the Denver Police Department. Thomas met his devoted companion, Hattie Graham who had two beautiful children, Corine and Barbara. To this union were born two additional children, Patricia and Constance. He loved them all equally and was a devoted father to the girls. In later years, his grandchildren, Toby, Tamara, Michael, Nicholas, Chase and Deion and his great grandchild, Tobi Aryana were an
added source of joy and pride in his life. "Thomas was a firm believer in "FAMILY". Never one to sit still, Thomas continued his education at Metropolitan State College and the University of Denver (D.U.) where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology. After graduation, he was employed by the United States Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management. He retired from the "BLM" after many years of dedicated service. He was known for his hard work and dependability. Being an entrepreneur by nature, he then created his own company, "Tee Jay Towing" as well as a landscaping business. He later ran for the Denver City Council and for the United States Congress in 2012. Thomas, like his father, Thomas Gordon, was a 33rd degree Mason. With a strong faith in the Lord, he attended worship services throughout the Denver area. He enjoyed playing the saxophone, fishing, and talking and joking with his grandchildren over a cold Pepsi. He remained active in his community and had many friends. Thomas was a father figure and "mentor" to many. Setting an example for others, he was truly a "One of a Kind". His love, leadership,
enjoyment of life and generous nature will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to share a part of this wonderful man's life. To know Thomas was truly to love him. Rest in peace..."Daddy"
