The sun rose on the life of Mr. Michael Robert Goggins on September 10, 1954, at Ramey Air Force Base in San Juan,Puerto Rico, when he was born to George Robert Goggins, Jr. and Jean Audrey Goggins (maiden name Robinson). The oldest of two children, Michael had one sister, Brenda. As a child, he was active, mischievous and talkative. Michael never met a stranger. His sister remembers, "When he was a child, Momma told him not to do things. I could tell by the look in his eye that he was planning how to disobey. Off he went, did what he wasn't supposed to do, then brought Momma the paddle for his spanking." Educated in the public school system, he graduated from Howard High School in Columbia, Maryland. He continued his education at the University of Maryland, College Park Campus where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, Class of 1976. Michael was an active member of the NAACP, AARP and SPHR. He was employed with Allied Barton Security Service in Security. He was known for hard work and dedication. He was also involved in a long term loving relationship with Ms. Della Fields. She remembers, "Mike was my soul mate as well as my best friend. Mike loved my children, Leotis, Natasaca, Latricshaca and Bernadette as his own, and a host of grandchildren that he was so close to. He always enjoyed family get togethers, barbeques and birthday parties." In his free time, Michael enjoyed family and friends, reading sci-fi, watching westerns, football and boxing. His best friend was Marvin Schemenauer. Marvin remembers that Michael was a kindred soul and referred to him as "Mr. G" with whom he could always talk to about deep life issues as well as enjoying lobster and sushi. One of his favorite expressions was, "That will shut you up!" His favorite color was black and he most enjoyed jazz music. His beautiful smile, love, laughter, strong work ethic, honesty and
integrity made this wonderful man a treasured friend and family member. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. The sun set on the life of Mr. Michael Robert Goggins on December 27, 2013 when he passed into eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, George R. Goggins,
