Deanna Lynn Gardner-Cole was born September 16, 1963, in Washington, D.C. to Elder Clinton and Missionary Myrtistine Summers. As a military brat, Deanna lived in Washington, D.C.; Columbus, Georgia; Ft Huachuca, Arizona; Munich, Germany;Baumholder, Germany; Ft Walton Beach, Florida; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Denver,Colorado; and Colorado Springs, Colorado.Deanna excelled in school and graduated from Wide field High School in 1981. She was a certified, licensed cosmetologist; customer service representative; and studied and served as a dental hygienist.Deanna served as Executive Secretary of the Colorado Mass Choir from 1996 - 1997and worked closely with Reverend James Moore. An excellent singer and choir director, Deanna also established a Gospel Ensemble with her sister Stephanie and a few others.Deanna divorced Dennis Gardner decades ago. She blissfully married Emery Cole May 4, 2011.Deanna's hobbies and interests were spending time with her grandchildren, singing,styling hair, directing, writing music, skating, cooking, watching movies, relaxing,uplifting others, and providing laughter. Deanna was affectionately known as Mama Dee. A people person, Deanna loved children, family, and friends. She was very hospitable and frequently opened her doors to help those in need. She was very sociable and loved cooking for others.Deanna spoke from her heart so you never had to wonder what she was thinking. She was always direct and straight forward.Deanna attended Israelite COGIC; served as the Minister of Music at Lifting Up Jesus; and served in the Tower of Faith Music Department. She loved God and despite major illnesses, she continued to trust and praise God daily. As Deanna trusted God through her pain and sickness, she continually encouraged and witnessed to others.Many people were touched to see how Deanna praised and glorified God even in her weakened state. No matter how faint her voice, Deanna yet sang praising and worshipping God. Mrs. Deanna Lynn Gardner-Cole passed from this life on January 9, 2014 when the Lord called her home to join the heavenly choir. She was preceded by her mother Myrtistine Summers May 24, 2004 and son Zechariah Gardner December 2, 2011. Deanna leaves to celebrate her life: her husband Emery Cole; sons Solomon Summers and Zephaniah Gardner; stepson Dwayne Gardner;grandchildren Laiyla Grace Evelyn Gardner, Zay-quan Demitrius Gardner; Hezekiah Isaiah Fisher,Natalie Fisher, Dwayne Gardner Jr., andMyriah Gardner; father Elder Clinton Summers; siblings Sylvia Summers,Jacqueline Seabrook, Clementine Amey, Venetia Brown, Geraldine Hughes, Reginald Summers, and Stephanie Summers; and 13 nieces and nephews.
