Obituary of Beverly Brooms

Please share a memory of Beverly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Beverly Virginia Brooms on February 28, 1953, in Greenville, South Carolina when she was born to Willie Heard, Jr. and Shirley L. Heard. The oldest of nine children, Beverly had one brother, Ronald and seven sisters, Sheila, Verena, Loraine, Sandra, Odessa, Tammy and Katia. A happy child, she attended church services regularly. Educated in the public school system, she graduated from Douglas High School on the Air Force base in Rapid City, South Dakota. She was a cheerleader, sang in the choir and was a member of a band. She continued her education later, attending airline school for Continental Airlines in Denver, Colorado. On July 3, 1973, Beverly was united in marriage with the love of her life, Lewis Brooms in Denver. Their marriage was a loving, caring one filled with togetherness. To this union were born two children, Brittany and Perri. The children remember their mother "always over preparing us for situations, even when we couldn't see something, she could. She was always right. We could tell her anything, she never judged. She loved us no matter what and she was always the peacemaker." Her grandson, Achilles remembers his "Grandma" aka "Grandma Chipmunk" cooking pancakes on the weekends, going to Village Inn restaurant, climbing into her lap when she got home from work and group hugs. A woman of faith, Beverly was a member of Peaceful Rest Church. She was last employed for 9 years with Money Gram in Customer Service. She previously worked with Continental Airlines for 16 years. She was known for being friendly, a "mother figure" who always listened and gave advice. She made many friends at work. In her free time, she enjoyed family and friends, DIY projects and watching home shopping networks. Her best friend was Mary Pettaway. She always wanted everyone to get along because she believed "life is too short!" She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed. To know Beverly was to love her. The sun set on the life of Mrs. Beverly Virginia Brooms on January 18, 2014 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Lewis Brooms of Aurora, CO; daughters, Brittany Brooms and Perri Brooms; grandson, Achilles Marshall, all of Aurora, CO; mother, Shirley L. Heard of SC; 8 siblings; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
