Obituary of Bessie Lee Drennan
Please share a memory of Bessie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Ms. Bessie Lee Drennan on August 12, 1943 in Idabel, Oklahoma when she was born to Roy Ware and Rebbie Bell - Ware. The youngest of three children she had one brother, Dean and one sister, Velma. Educated in the public school system, Bessie graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Idabel. She continued her education at Langston University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. On June 29, 1972, Bessie was united in marriage with Charles Drennan, Jr. at Plainview Baptist Church in Idabel. To this union were born two handsome sons, Charles and Warren. The boys remember, "Our mother was always full of love toward us through good, bad and indifferent and she could always make us laugh even though we wanted to cry. She used to love singing gospel music and dancing to the electric slide. She loved to be around her family and laugh." In later years, her grandchildren, Reajaun, Adrian, Dante, Elaina, Xaivier and Warren, Jr. knew that "Grandma Bessie" loved her grandchildren just like her own children. A woman of faith, Bessie was a faithful member of Heart For The World Christian Center in Aurora, Colorado for many years. A teacher by profession, she was employed with Denver Public Schools for 20 years until she retired. She had also taught overseas for 20 years. She was known for dedication to her job and love for the children. In her free time, she enjoyed family, friends and church. She was loved by all for her giving nature, awesome card parties and family BBQs. "Her laugh could heal a nation and her love for others could heal the world." Her love, strength and will to survive and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved Bessie. The sun set on the life of Ms. Bessie Lee Drennan on February 2, 2014 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Charles (Audrey) Drennan of Denver, CO and Warren (Tanisha) Drennan of Aurora, CO; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Rest in peace...Ms. Bessie
