Obituary of Jennifer Box
Please share a memory of Jennifer to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jennifer "Jenny" Maria Box died on February 24, 2014 at the age of 58 in Aurora, Colorado. She was born on November 9, 1955, the second of three daughters of SFC James Edward Box and Lillie Vaden, in Washington DC. She moved with her family to Honolulu, Hawaii, and then Denver Colorado, where she attended Junior High and High School. Jenny attended a Health Care Assistance Program at Emily Griffith Opportunity School and Concorde Career Institute where she received certification and hands-on training in nursing assistance, phlebotomy, EKG, and related courses in health care. She also received an Operations Certificate and operated a Jacquard mini-computer that interfaced with the Denver Public Schools main computer. She worked as a computer operator before going into the healthcare industry as a Lab Assistant/EKG Technician, a LPN and later a Phlebotomist. Jenny was a voracious reader and was passionate about books, music and animals. She had a heart of gold and was always trying to help other people with whatever resources she had. Jenny made friends for life and didn't know any strangers. She was known, however, as the "feisty" sister who you didn't want to cross. Jenny suffered from bipolar disorder and anxiety disorders for most of her adult life, and fought like a champion. Her mental illness took a toll on her health. Jenny is survived by her long-time companion Mark Lewis of Denver, Colorado, her mother, Lillie Vaden of Pensacola, Florida, her sister Dawn Givens (Baxter), nephew Baxter Porter (Kandice) of Aurora, Colorado, cousins Charles McCall (Allene) of Aurora, Colorado, and many devoted relatives and friends.
