Obituary of Lottie Mae Steele

Please share a memory of Lottie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mother Lottie Mae Steele was born on August 3, 1928 in Corinth, Mississippi to the late Henry and Martha Settles. Her family relocated to South Bend, Indiana when she was three years old. She received her formal education and earned her RN Nursing Degree in South Bend. Mother Lottie and William Steele were joined in holy matrimony in 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri. The couple were the proud parents of 14 children. A loving and devoted mother, there was nothing she would not do for her children as well as all other children. She was known as "Momma Lottie" to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren or "Grandma La La". She loved them dearly. Mother came to know the Lord at an early age and learned Christian values from her parents. She was a Psychiatric Nurse (RN) at Memorial Hospital for years, moved to Denver, Colorado and worked at the St. Luke's Hospital until she retired. Additionally, Mother owned a restaurant called the Kozy Kitchen. She had a great gift for cooking and caring for people and taught those values to her children. Mother also housed and fed the homeless here in Denver, CO and also provided a place for people to stay in her own home for years before she became no longer able to help them. But, she made sure everyone had a place to stay. She worked with different organizations throughout the Denver Metro area. She also received donations for her work from different franchises throughout Colorado. Donations were coming from everywhere. "God gave our Mother a very special gift with caring for and helping people from all walks of life. Mother had a very special gift and a great educational back ground that enabled her to do so, and she did it well. Everything she did was from the heart, and there was nothing she wouldn't do for children." Her tender love and caring will be deeply missed by the vast number of people whose lives she touched and helped. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. To know Mother Lottie was to love her. Mother Lottie Mae Steele passed from this life on March 27, 2014 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Elizavette and several siblings. Those left to cherish her beautiful memory include her children, Courtney L (Patricia) Steele, Precious J.
