Obituary of Anthony Leandre Bell

Please share a memory of Anthony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mr. Anthony Leandre Bell on February 3, 1952 in Buffalo, New York when he was born to Melvin E. and Lena M. Bell. The second of three children, he had one brother, Michael and one sister, Lorraine. As a child, Tony followed his big brother, Michael everywhere. Nicknamed "I do", he would always respond "I do" whenever anyone asked if anyone wanted some of anything. Educated in the Detroit public school system, he graduated from Northeastern High School in Detroit, Michigan. He continued his education at Seibel School of Drafting in Denver, Colorado. On August 8, 1981, Tony was united in marriage with Dolores A. Maestes at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Denver. She remembers, "We loved to sing together. He loved to BBQ and throw family parties." To this union were born two children, Crystal and Anthony II. On December 15, 1991, Anthony entered a loving relationship with Verdell Kymble-Smith. She remembers trips they took, all night skating on New Years and parties they threw. Tony's children remember knuckle head missions, how involved he was in their education, Heritage Square Alpine Slide, camping, fishing and bedtime lullabies. His grandchildren, Melyzjah, Jeru and Dominic remember "PaGa" with great affection. A Draftsman by profession, Tony was employed with Vari-L & Sweeney. He was a board member of the Safeway (Now Westerria) Credit Union. He was right hand man for the CEO at Compositech until his health prevented him from working. He was known for his hard work and dedication, but he "always had to grab his chicken and slurpee before he came in". Involved with his community, Tony was a mentor for Denver Kids, Inc. In his free time, he enjoyed family, friends, camping, fishing, playing games, fussing, making his seasonal "nuts & bolts" but most of all watching sports. His best friends were Leon Harris, Leon Jordan, Melvin Price, DAX and Skipper Miller. His favorite flower was "a rose for his love" and he liked listening to jazz, oldies and a little bit of hip-hop. Words and phrases that remind us of him include, "Knucklehead", "Ain't no motion like Tony's slow motion potion", "Tony Bell, it has a ring to it", "Uncle Pop" and "Chef Leandre". He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. To know Tony was to love him. The sun set on the life of Mr. Anthony Leandre Bell on April 12, 2014 when he passed into eternal rest. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dolores A. Bell; son, Anthony L. Bell II; daughter, Crystal M. Bell, all of Denver, CO; brother, Michael E. Bell of Aurora, CO; sister, Lorraine Bell of Detroit, MI; stepson, Kuodrow Smith of Aurora, CO, devoted companion, Verdell Kymble-Smith; three grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Rest in peace..."Tony"
